The "Rotten Cup" Latin American Go Tour Online Finals opened

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, December 11, 2021 The "Rotten Cup" 2021 Latin American Go Tour Online Finals opened on the 11th, with winners from Argentina, Colombia, Dominica, Mexico and Cuba competing in five sub-tournaments.

The tournament is a state-level Go tournament jointly founded by the China Weiqi Association and the Latin American Weiqi Association, funded by Quzhou Rotten Ke Cultural Industry Development Co., Ltd., and is an important part of the strategic cooperation agreement between China and Latin America and the Latin American Weiqi Association and its 13 member states signed in April this year.

Five offline races began on 6 November, with Santiago Tavares in Argentina, Pascal Mariot in Dominica, Diego Aguille in Colombia, Alejandro Sanchez in Mexico and Jose Salaco in Cuba meeting in the online finals.

The opening ceremony was divided into three venues: the China Weiqi Association, the Latin American Weiqi Alliance, and the Quzhou International Weiqi Cultural Exchange Center in Zhejiang. The briefing on the competitions of each sub-station was broadcast, and the heads of the Go organizations of the countries hosting the sub-stations also sent video speeches.

At the opening ceremony, Lin Jianchao, chairman of the China Weiqi Association, reviewed the strategic cooperation between China and Latin America and The United States, and listed seven key activities, including the China-Latin America Women's Online Go Tournament, the Latin American Go Conference, and the "Rotten Ke Cup" Latin American Go Tour. He said that the tour showed a number of significant characteristics, with a large number of participants, a large publicity and high standards. The game fully reflects people's love for Go regardless of borders, culture and individual differences, which is also in line with the characteristics of Go itself.

The trophies and awards designed by the Chinese Weiqi Association were displayed on the spot, and the trophies were mainly colored with the orange logo of the "Little Fox Weiqi" logo of the overseas publicity platform of the Chinese Weiqi Association, and the main body was composed of the initials "W" and "Q" of "Weiqi" Pinyin. The lower right corner of the "Q" is represented by a fox tail. The design of the award is based on bamboo jane as the carrier, the front side is engraved in Chinese and Spanish, and the back is engraved with a bilingual version of "Ten Tips of Go" in Chinese and English.

It is understood that at present, Chile, Venezuela and Brazil and other countries have proposed to host the 2022 Latin American Tour, and next year's competition may be expanded to 8 stops.
