His father was named Wei Zongdian, who had a good martial art and followed Wei Baqun in making a revolution. In 1926, as the secretary of the peasant association, he was ambushed and killed by the bully landlord Wei Dingbo. Also killed was his cousin, Wei Zongyi, the squad leader of the Peasants' Self-Defense Army.
After the death of his father, Wei Guoqing and his brothers hid in the mountains, and his grandfather Wei Tingfan guarded a thatched hut in his hometown.
One night after the autumn, Wei Guoqing and his eldest brother went home and met with their grandfather.
Suddenly there were rapid footsteps outside the house, and then someone ordered the door to be opened. Wei Tingfan immediately pushed the two grandchildren out of the window. The Wei Guoqing brothers had just run to the foot of the mountain when they heard a gunshot, and the thatched hut in the family was already on fire.
Who did this? It was done by a small leader of the local peasant self-defense army.
It turned out that once when some people fled from the edge of the thatched huts to go up the mountain, Wei Tingfan said: "You can also take other roads up the mountain, you all pass through here, the vigilante group knows, my family's people will be difficult to save their lives!" ”

After Wei Guoqing and his brother ran away, Wei Tingfan lit the oil lamp, "Snap! A shot came through the window, and he fell down in response. Subsequently, the small head commander took all the grain from the Wei family, took away the cultivating cattle, and set fire to the only thatched hut in the Wei Guoqing family.
Wei Guoqing was only 13 years old at this time, his father and grandfather were killed in less than half a year, leaving only his stepmother with him and 5 underage siblings, and then his stepmother remarried, Wei Guoqing and his eldest brother and second brother lived in a cave and lived an inhuman life. A year later, Wei Guoqing and his brother defected to Wei Baqun's Peasant Self-Defense Army and embarked on the revolutionary road.
In 1949, Wei Guoqing became a victor, and the man who killed his grandfather was also exposed by the people in his hometown, which was a revenge. However, later the local government took into account that he had done some things in the Peasants' Self-Defense Army, and continued to enjoy the treatment of "revolutionary old man" in the countryside in his later years.
When Wei Guoqing came to Guangxi to take charge, many well-meaning people often advised Wei Guoqing to deal with that person seriously. However, Wei Guoqing insisted:
