Commentary on the Classic Famous Sentences of Cai Gen Tan (29)

Original text: In the midst of adversity, all around you are needles and stones, and you are unconscious; in a good situation, you are full of blades and spears in front of you, and you don't know it.

Translation: In the midst of adversity, it is like putting needles and medicines all over the body, moving forward in the ups and downs, and unconsciously tempering the will and cultivating noble conduct. Being in a favorable environment is like being surrounded by knives and spears, and unconsciously destroying the soul, consuming the will, and making people degenerate.

Commentary: The heavens will descend upon the Scythians, who will first suffer their hearts, strain their bones, starve their bodies, empty their bodies, and mess up their deeds. Life in the world is really a practice, no matter what kind of environment you encounter around you, your heart should be consistent and your righteousness will last forever.

Original text: Sweeping the white clouds, only with the work to get up the obstacle; chiseling the pool bright moon into, can be the empty realm of self-emergence.

Commentary on the Classic Famous Sentences of Cai Gen Tan (29)

Translation: Enlightenment practice is like the process of sweeping the floor. It seems that the ground is not very dirty, when sweeping the floor, with the help of sunlight to see that there was so much dust, like a clear sky, once there is wind, white clouds will soon appear. This is also a metaphor for when practicing enlightenment, when you don't feel the location of your own habits and dispositions on weekdays, and only when you calm down to pranayama and practice do you understand that there are a lot of habits and delusions in your mind, and only then do you suppress the delusions in front of you, and then there are new thoughts in the back. Dig a pool of water in the ground and there is water in the pool, and when the moon is empty, you can see the moon in the pool.

Commentary on the Classic Famous Sentences of Cai Gen Tan (29)

Comments: The heart is like a mirror, often with a whisk. A bright mirror that needs to be wiped and cleaned frequently to keep it clean; there is water in the pool, and it can only be seen in the water when the moon is empty. Like a mirror, the state of the heart needs to be cleaned often to keep clean, and the troubles and dust of the heart are like dust, and we often need to wipe it with the wisdom of the sages and scriptures to keep the purity of the heart. There is water in the pool, the water surface is calm, there is a moon night to see the moon, if the water is turbid, the water ripples, even if you can see it is a blurry state; and then there is no water in the pool, I think I can't see the bright moon. Therefore, the wisdom of the sages deserves the deep consideration of each of us, and it is also an inspiration for future generations. At this point, the heart has a feeling: the heart is like a lotus flower, and the body is red and dusty like mud. If there are no ripples on the surface of the lake, I really look at myself.
