Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder common in school-age children that manifests as attention deficits, excessive hyperactivity, and impulsivity that are inconsistent with developmental levels. Studies have shown that up to 85% of ADHD have at least one comorbid psychobehavioral disorder. Because comorbidities can bring more serious damage to children's social functions, parents need to pay special attention.
tip: comorbidities, also known as comorbidities,
Refers to two or more different diseases that occur in the same person.
In order to help parents of children with ADHD who suffer from other diseases, especially those with ADHD psychiatric, behavioral and neurodevelopmental disorders, the Child Protection Center of our hospital recently successfully held the 11th ADHD Parent Salon in 2021, with the theme of "Common Comorbid Problems of ADHD", and psychotherapist Ms. Tian Lin led parents to understand the current situation, mechanism, harm and diagnosis and treatment progress of ADHD comorbidities. Through systematic explanation, parents can deepen their understanding of the problem of ADHD comorbidities.

So what can we do as parents in the face of the comorbidity of ADHD?

Build confidence and perseverance
Although the ADHD of "accomplices" makes our comrades feel a headache, but the so-called know thyself and know each other, never lose a battle, as long as enough understanding, no matter how powerful the enemy is not terrible, we must despise the enemy strategically and pay attention to the enemy tactically.
Long-term treatment of ADHD has some potential positive effects, such as long-term symptom control is conducive to long-term improvement of social functioning, academic performance, employment, and reduction of secondary conditions such as substance use, antisocial behavior and procrastination.
Trust each other and fight the enemy together
Our comrades-in-arms should cooperate with each other, parents, teachers, doctors are indispensable, and comrades-in-arms should be close to each other, strengthen exchanges, information reciprocity, and firm faith.
Tension is moderate, anti-micro-gradual
Parents and comrades are the best "reconnaissance units" on our side, and they should pay attention to observing their children's words and deeds in peacetime, and in their daily lives, they should be good at discovering the clues of the "enemy" and promptly reporting them to the doctors of the "combat commander" to jointly resist the enemy.
Of course, parents should not be too nervous, the grass and trees are soldiers, as soon as there is wind and grass, they believe in the enemy, and if they are not sure, they must take the initiative to report to the combat commanders and doctors, and do not "Baidu" enter the seat.
The road ahead is long, don't be impatient
Fighting against the enemy is a long and arduous process, parents must not be in a hurry, sometimes doctors in order to bring down ADHD, and do not want to invite the threat of other enemies, will choose a more gentle way of fighting.
In this long-term battle, it is sometimes necessary to wait a month or more for our ammunition to play its full role.
Look for the right card and beware of being fooled
Finally, in the end, I would like to solemnly remind all parents and friends who have been fighting in the front line for a long time not to listen to the deception of other irregular troops, and many of the so-called combat methods that can eliminate the enemy without spending a single soldier are mostly beautiful lies. Parents must polish their eyes and look for regular troops, so as not to let the enemy exploit loopholes, lose combat funds, and delay the best time for combat, but also harm children.
I hope that parents and friends will pay attention to the comorbidity of ADHD, choose the appropriate treatment plan, and give the child the right support and guidance!
