
Zhenyuan Town, located on the banks of the Wuyang River, belongs to Zhenyuan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. In the southeast of Guizhou Province, the upper reaches of the Yangtze River system, in the lofty mountains of the Wuling Mountains in the eastern part of the Guizhou Plateau, at the confluence of Huaihua, Tongren and Qiandongnan in Xiangqian Province, it is an ancient and young city. Zhenyuan is the birthplace of China's modern heavy industry, and the Qingxi Iron Works, a product of Zhang Zhidong and Li Hongzhang's "foreign affairs movement", is located here, and the "Tianzi No. 1" steel ingots are still stored here. Guizhou Qingjiu Group is also located here.
Zhenyuan is known as "the key to the Lock of Yunnan and Chu, the gateway to Qiandong". It has a long history, with a history of nearly 2300 years since the establishment of the county in the 30th year of King Qin Zhao's reign (277 BC). In the Yuan and Qing dynasties, it was the seat of the province and the capital for more than 700 years.
The ancient town of Zhenzhen is extremely rich in tourism resources, including more than 50 ruins such as buildings, pavilions, temples, halls and ancestral halls, 33 ancient houses, 12 ancient docks, and 5 ancient post roads. There are 1 national key cultural relics protection unit and 7 provincial cultural relics protection units. The main attractions are GaojiaoHe, Wuyang River, Qinglong Cave, Shiping Mountain, Zhenyuan Ancient City, Ancient Laneway, Heping Village and so on. In 1986, Zhenyuan was approved by the State Council as a famous historical and cultural city in China; in 1988, the State Council positioned zhenyuan Wuyanghe Scenic Area as a national scenic spot; on March 6, 2009, Zhenyuan won the title of "China's Top Ten Most Beautiful Ancient Cities", ranking fifth; on November 5, 2021, Zhenyuan was identified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as the first batch of national-level night culture and tourism consumption agglomeration areas. Zhenyuan Ancient Town is now a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.
The main festivals of Zhenyuan Town are dragon boat race, Lusheng Dance, Miao Bench Dance, Miao New Year Festival, March Three Valentine's Day, April Eight Miao Cow King Festival, August Eight Tujia Festival, etc.; special foods include aged Dishes, Sour Soup Fish, Beef Powder, Grilled Fish, Bacon Hot Pot, Intestinal Wang Noodles, Zhenyuan Special Hot Pot, etc.; specialties include green wine, aged Taoist dishes, moldy tofu, MiaoXiang bacon, kiwi pieces, Miao Silver Miao embroidery and so on.
