Today (December 4), the Information Office of the State Council released the white paper "Democracy in China" and held a press conference. At the meeting, a reporter asked that the United States will hold a democracy summit next week, and China has recently emphasized people's democracy in the whole process, and today also released a white paper on "Democracy in China." Some people believe that China and the United States are in a struggle around democratic discourse. What is your opinion on this?
Xu Lin, deputy director of the Central Propaganda Department and director of the Information Office of the State Council, said that we should always be open and inclusive to the different forms of democracy in various countries, seeking common ground while reserving differences; we should fully respect, learn from each other in the exploration and efforts of all countries in pursuing democracy, and this is true democracy. A small number of countries regard other forms of democracy as undemocratic or even reject and suppress them with the hegemonic thinking of being right with themselves and not being wrong with them, which is itself undemocratic. Is this the democracy they flaunt?
The United States prides itself on being a "democratic leader" and organizes and manipulates the so-called "democratic summit" under the guise of democracy to suppress and contain countries with different social systems and development models. (CCTV reporter Huang Huixin Du Xinzhu)
