She has been teaching the children in the ward to draw for 16 years, and she calls her "Teacher Sticky Rice"

"Children with leukemia can't get out of the ward due to long-term chemotherapy, and they generally have a wish, that is, they want to see the outside world." This wish was difficult to realize, so I picked up the paintbrush and painted the blue sky and white clouds for them, and the beautiful scenery of the motherland. Looking at the colorful paintings, they seem to have a dream come true. Wang Yiqun, a member of the law enforcement team of the Putuo District Chengguan Law Enforcement Bureau, said.

Wang Yiqun, who usually wears uniforms, has a nickname "Glutinous Rice Teacher", who is busy in the front line of civilized construction and garbage classification every day, and she is also a volunteer in the social work department of Shanghai Children's Hospital. Since entering college in 2005, she has a foundation in art, and she will go to hospital wards, special schools, etc. to guide children in art courses for free.

5 December is International Volunteer Day. Statistics from the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission show that at present, volunteer service has covered 16 districts and 506 medical institutions in the city, and 152 medical institutions in the city have independently set up social work departments. At the same time, Shanghai has established more than 200 municipal volunteer service bases, and the number of hospital volunteer bases is 55, accounting for 27%.

Wang Yiqun recalled that the first time she walked into the hematology department of the Municipal Children's Hospital, no children participated in her class. When she walked into the ward, she saw a haggard face without hair in chemotherapy, heard the heart-wrenching crying sound of needle pricking, and suddenly understood everything. Back home, she buried herself in making more than 30 cartoon pendants and hung them on their infusion racks, and the children began to walk out of bed and string the door, and from that day on, she decided to accompany them every week.

Over the years, through on-site teaching and on-site interaction, the relationship between the child and Wang Yiqun has become closer. In the process of volunteering, she realized that it was not enough to rely on her own strength, so she set up a volunteer service team to explore a set of replicable and generalizable teaching models for children. At the same time, through the public account free courses and the compilation and printing of guidance picture books to share lesson plans, so that parents without a foundation in painting can also guide their children.

Today, the "glutinous rice balls" are constantly growing. Offline, the team served about 2,500 children. Online, the official account has also been supported by more than 2,100 families.

The relevant person in charge of the Spiritual Civilization Office of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission said that the next step will continue to promote and strengthen the scope of volunteer services, and establish and improve the volunteer service system in professional fields such as emergency rescue, public health, and psychological counseling.
