Preface

According to historical records, after the founding of the Liao Dynasty, Kulun belonged to the head of the Xiao nobles under the jurisdiction of junzhou. During the period of Liao Shengzong (Yelü Longxu, 982-1030) and Xingzong (Yelü Zongzhen, 1031-1054), although they had entered a feudal society, the establishment of Yizhou, Ling'an Prefecture and other military states marked the existence of slavery. Liao Shengzong's beloved daughter Princess Yueguo married her uncle Xiao Xiaozhong and enjoyed herself in the private city of Yizhou, which was extremely brilliant. After that, although it gradually declined, the descendants of the Xiao clan loved Cullen and quietly buried here. The former BeliBug Liao Tomb Group is an ancient tomb group of the middle and late Liao Dynasty, buried between 983 and 1101 AD.

The murals of the tomb of Belibug Liao in front of the Kulun Banner are the essence of Liao Dynasty art. Since the 1960s, archaeologists in Inner Mongolia and Jilin Province have cleaned up and excavated more than a dozen Liao tombs in this area, most of which have murals. These murals directly reflect the social life of the Liao Dynasty, with a high level of art, of which the first, second, sixth and seventh tomb murals are the most wonderful, and the scenes of "Travel Map", "Return Map" and "Hunting Map" are grand, the content is rich, the skill is skillful, and the profound skill is rare today, which is the wonder of Liao Dynasty art, which has aroused the general attention of the cultural relics and archaeology circles and the art circles at home and abroad. In 1986, the exquisite murals in the tomb were exhibited at the Palace Museum in Beijing, and for a time they became the focus of news media at home and abroad.

The murals of the tomb of Kulun Liao, through the vicissitudes of the years, the lead is washed away, only to show people with simplicity, it can really be described as the road to simplicity, and the beauty is speechless. Today we have selected some of the fine murals from them and exhibited them online.
