At 9:28 a.m., the system suddenly issued an early warning, and the traffic police and technicians on duty at the center clicked on the early warning system and found that the number of vehicles turning left on Binjiang North Road in Shunqing District to Zhenjiang West Road increased, and nearly 20 vehicles lined up to pass, and there were not many vehicles going straight to the municipal new area from this intersection. The traffic police immediately clicked the mouse to adjust the length of traffic lights at the intersection, temporarily increasing the traffic time for straight and left turning vehicles, and the traffic congestion at the intersection was quickly alleviated. Shu Sheng, deputy chief of the order section of the traffic police detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, said that the left turn vehicle traffic time at this intersection is 33 seconds, and if the 33 seconds cannot meet the traffic demand of left turn vehicles, the traffic organization mode of the intersection will be adjusted, such as increasing the left turn vehicle traffic time. Through the background, traffic police and technicians can directly control the traffic organization of 166 intersections in the main urban area.

"The intelligent traffic signal control center is positioned as the 'brain' of urban traffic congestion control and traffic management." A person in charge of the traffic police detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau introduced that the center has the functions of traffic signal operation management, multi-source traffic data processing application, traffic optimization and multi-department coordination, etc. At present, the main urban area of Nanchong has completed the transformation of 166 intersection old-fashioned traffic lights, and the signal control machine has been upgraded to meet the time-time and phase-by-phase regulation. At the same time, the traffic light control system and the intelligent traffic signal control center network, traffic police and technical personnel rely on the 93 high point monitoring system installed in the main urban area and the video surveillance system of each section of the urban area, at any time to see the traffic flow of important intersections and road sections in the main urban area, once the traffic congestion or emergencies occur, the traffic lights can be adjusted in real time through the mouse.

Precise timing improves vehicle throughput

The intersection of Xihua Road, Baituba Road and Yuhua Avenue in Shunqing District is one of the intersections in and out of the main city, and in the past, due to heavy traffic, many citizens had to wait for two or three rounds of traffic lights to pass when driving by. Recently, some citizens have found that whether it is a peak period of traffic or a peak period of traffic, it is often a traffic light cycle that can pass.

"Within 24 hours of the day, there are 13 sets of traffic light control schemes at this intersection." Shu Sheng said that at different times, the traffic lights and traffic organization schemes at the intersection are different, in order to maximize the vehicle passage rate at the intersection and reduce the waiting time of vehicles.

Late-night mixed clearance reduces vehicle waiting time

In this regard, a person in charge of the traffic police detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau said that the implementation of mixed clearance at some intersections in the main urban area late at night is also one of the measures to optimize and adjust the traffic in the main urban area after the establishment of the intelligent traffic signal control center. At present, the intersections of Xihe Road, Renmin Road, Yudai Road, ChenShou Road, Duwei Road, Yangchun Road, Jiangdong Avenue, Dongshun Road and other traffic arteries in the main urban area have been mixed at night, on the one hand, the red and green lights have been shortened to 30 seconds, and on the other hand, the left, straight and right turn vehicles have been released at the same time.

"Late at night, there are fewer vehicles in urban areas, and the implementation of mixed clearance greatly increases the ability of vehicles at intersections to pass and reduces the time for car owners to wait for red lights."
