A legend in the world of design

"If you have the same thing as everyone else, why design it?" You probably haven't heard it, and you don't know Philippe Starck, who says it.

But in the design world, no one can deny that Philippe Starck, a Frenchman who weighs more than 200 pounds, often appears in the camera semi-nude and likes to advertise with his designs, has always worn the most dazzling crown in the field.

He is a legend in the design world, a collection of pop stars, crazy inventors, romantic philosophers, known as "ghost talent", "genius", "design poet" and "design king", perhaps the most prestigious design master in the world.

Philippe Starck's designs demonstrate respect for the environment and care for humanity, as he put forward during his time as Creative Director at Thomson Thomson: "Thomson: From Technology to Caring."

Technology itself is not the end, just a means, the ultimate goal, is the human care for themselves. This defined the relationship between brand and technology and design, which eventually became Thomson's brand slogan "friendly technology".

At the world's three most influential consumer electronics shows: CES Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Show, IFA Berlin International Consumer Electronics Show, MWC Barcelona Mobile World Congress, Philippe Starck's booth designed for Thomson THOMSON attracted the attention of many professional visitors, and won the gold medal of the show. Of course, his collaboration with Thomson THOMSON is not just this booth.

In 1893, Thomson Thomson was founded in Paris, France, and the founder Elihu Thomson was an inventor and engineer, injecting the genes of technology and innovation into it. Today, Thomson THOMSON has become a world electronic and electrical technology giant and century-old brand with equal emphasis on industrial and consumer business, and is one of the world's four major consumer electronic and electrical product manufacturers, with users in 120 countries and regions.

The secret of the success of the Thomson THOMSON brand for a hundred years, in addition to the brand concept it has always adhered to, is that it has always worked closely with high-level designers, including international design master Philippe Starck. Although he is not the exclusive designer of Thomson THOMSON, many of Thomson's classic products are from his masterpieces.

Philippe Starck was not a good boy and a good student as a child, and his naughtiness seems to increase with age, slowly evolving into mature humor that permeates his designs. He stressed that design should return to simplicity, but when integrated into his unique humor and personality, simplicity is no longer simple, but appears to be extremely creative and vital.

The inner, rounded and elegant appearance with a sense of humor is the most prominent feature of Philippe Starck's design. During his tenure, Thomson THOMSON launched the Starck series of home appliances, which fully exerted its design concept and created unparalleled results, which is an example of the combination of product aesthetics and functionality and practicality in industrial design.

Philippe Starck's home design work is on display

Philippe Starck was born in Paris, France in 1949 to the son of a pilot and aircraft engineer. He grew up in a room full of design drawings and parts, scribbling on his father's design desk, taking apart the family's electrical appliances to study and reassemble. These "childhood games" inspired his interest in architecture and design.

In 1960, Philippe Starck was admitted to ecole Nissim de Camondo, majoring in architecture, at the Ecole Nissim de Camondo, Institut of Industrial Design and Environmental Architecture in Paris. At the age of 16, he won his first honor: the first prize in the LaVilette home design competition in France.

After graduation, he suddenly felt that he had worked too hard in his studies, so he decided to travel around the world to make up for the loss of school. After traveling the world, Philippe Starck returned to France, where he had just turned 20 and entered the prestigious Pierre Cardin studio as an art director.

In just a few months at the firm, he designed more than 60 pieces of furniture with an efficiency that was unmatched by all his colleagues. After that, he left the firm and produced a series of successful works as an independent designer, and the "three-legged chair" and interior design for the Costes Café in Paris were highly acclaimed, which gradually brought him to the forefront.

What really made Philippe Starck famous was in 1982, when he was invited by French President François Mitterrand to design the president's private residence at the Elysee Palace. This project made him famous in one fell swoop and has since truly gone global, and its unique style has attracted the attention of countless brand owners.

In the 1990s, Philippe Starck made a big splash in his old line of work, architectural design. He designed the Asahi Beer Building in Asakusa, Tokyo, with very strange proportions and shapes, and a bold style that surprises people. A series of designs have also been made for the Nani-Nani office building in Tokyo, the Paramount Hotel in New York, the Delano Hotel in Miami, the Monmondian Hotel in Los Angeles, the Teatriz Hotel in Madrid, the Theatron Hotel in Mexico, and the Felix Tavern and Oyster Bar at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.

These big guys show the designer's shocking and admirable talent, but after all, it is far from our lives. What brought Philippe Starck even more to his reputation was his designs for ordinary objects.

His best-known works include the lemon juicer, the Hot Bertaa coffee maker and the ghost chair. The lemon juicer is a classic and plays an indispensable role in the production and application of Western-style catering. The ghost chair has sold more than 150w, and there are countless replicas.
