Will Taiwan Lose another "Friendly Country"? Honduran candidate Castro declared the winner

author:Straits Herald

Honduras, the "friendly state" of the Taiwan authorities, held a presidential election on 28 July, and the voting operation is now in full swing. In the 31% vote, Castro, a candidate for the Liberal Reconstruction Party who was closer to the Chinese mainland, led the ruling Party's Asfra by a significant margin, so the opposition party announced that Castro had won the election. Because Castro promised before the election that he would immediately "sever diplomatic relations" with the Taiwan authorities after he was elected and that he would establish diplomatic relations with China, the relations between Honduras and the Taiwan authorities immediately became the focus after Castro won the election.

Castro

According to Reuters, Xiomara Castro has now temporarily won 53.5% of the vote, about 20 percentage points ahead of Nasry Asfura's 34% vote, so Castro was the first to announce earlier that she had won the election and was expected to become the country's first female president.

Regarding the changes in the political situation in Honduras, Wu Zhao-sup, head of Taiwan's foreign affairs department, pretended to be calm yesterday, saying that he was quite confident in the "diplomatic relations" with Honduras and that "there should be no problems." As for the domestic changes in Honghunduras, Taiwan's foreign affairs departments will continue to pay close attention to them.

In response to related issues, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin previously said at a regular press conference that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The one-China principle is the universally recognized norm governing international relations and the universal consensus of the international community, and adhering to the one-China principle is the aspiration of the people and the trend of the times. We are telling the Taiwan authorities that "Taiwan independence" is a dead end, that "gold-dollar diplomacy" has no way out, and that any attempt to go against the tide of history and to rely on foreigners and gain self-respect is doomed to fail.
