Chinese how much they love to go out, this year's Eleventh Golden Week, in the case of everyone wearing masks to travel is often restricted, the number of people traveling in China is still as high as 650 million, recovering to more than 80% in 2019. The data of 19 years is even more terrifying, when the "seven days of small long holiday" China's number of tourists was once close to 800 million, so the terrible data led to many scenic spots at that time were overcrowded, and what went out to see was not the scenery but people.
There are also some tourists who have set their destinations abroad, such as Thailand, South Korea, Japan and so on in our surrounding areas. But there are also some tourists who like to pursue excitement and adventure, and resolutely come to the African continent. Although Africa is synonymous with "poverty", it has to be said that it is a magical land.
Coming to this place of origin of mankind, you can not only see the magnificent landscapes such as deserts, canyons, waterfalls, grasslands, etc., but also come into contact with many tribes that maintain a primitive way of life, as well as watch the "Animal World" of "survival of the fittest", and in the process, you can also see many rare plants that can only be seen in Africa. For example, it provides food and drink for Africans, and it can also be used as a baobab tree for housing.
And in the vast grasslands of Uganda, Africa, there is also a very peculiar plant, the fruit on the tree is like the sausage dried in some areas during the New Year, they are hanging on the branches of the tree one by one, if it is not located in Africa, it will really be mistaken for whose prank, or which family took out the dried sausage and forgot to collect it. Because the fruit produced by this tree is too similar to the "sausage", we also affectionately call it the "sausage tree".
This sausage tree is more common in Uganda in eastern Africa, which may be the reason why the local climate is more suitable for the growth of this tree. Despite its miraculous fame, the sausage tree is a plant of the Asteraceae family, which can grow to 5 to 12 meters tall, and the trunk is grayish-white and leafy. Generally, the leaves of this plant can grow to about 30 cm and then gather at the ends of the branches.
Since there is fruit, it means that the tree will flower, about the summer, the tree will have a flower path of about 10 cm long, and the shape of the flower is not very regular hanging on the branches, so it is also called a chandelier tree during the flowering period. We know that plants that want to blossom and bear fruit will emit fragrance during the flowering period and attract animals to help with pollen transmission, and generally these animals are industrious little bees or butterflies waving their wings, but it is bats that help the sausage tree to spread pollen.
And this kind of tree seems to be born for bats, in order to make bats better help themselves, most of the flowers of the sausage tree are hung on the branches in a hanging manner to facilitate bats to collect honey. And the flowers only bloom at night, and when the first warm sun shines on the trees after the sun rises, the flowers will quickly wither. What's more, in order to attract bats to help them pollinate, the flowers will emit the smell of rats when they bloom to attract bats. After the flowering season, the tree will gradually grow 60 cm long, sausage-like fruit.
Because bats play a role in pollination, and the flowers smell of rats, many Chinese tourists psychologically reject the fruit after hearing this. However, although the appearance of the sausage tree fruit is very strange, and the pollination process is also very unique, the fruit is not unpalatable, of course, the taste and "sausage" are also very different. It is like a fruit, sweet in taste, and the taste is also very complicated, but it has a very rich starch and a lot of juice.
We all know that the land in Africa is fertile, but the yield of crops is very impressive, but the locals are too Buddhist, or they will only covet pleasure and be too lazy, and most Africans are reluctant to farm. So what do they eat? Of course, it is a gift from nature.
For example, in the case of sausage trees, people in Uganda eat their fruits as a staple food, and whether they are ripe or not, the fruits of the sausage trees may be eaten directly. The whole body of this tree is also a treasure, the fruit can be made into yellow pigment in addition to eating, the shell of the fruit can be made into pots and pans, and the bark can be dried and can be used for medicine.
Moreover, after the fruit of the sausage tree is matured and hung on the tree for a period of time, many seeds will grow inside, and as long as the seeds are buried in the ground, they can germinate and grow naturally, and the follow-up does not need to be taken care of at all. The same is true of the baobab tree mentioned at the beginning, its fruit is edible, the seeds can be pressed for oil, the leaves may be made into seasonings, and almost the whole body is a treasure.
However, these whole bodies are "gifts" of treasure, which harm Africans. They can always easily obtain food without paying any price, causing more and more people to be satisfied with the status quo, thinking that they are hungry and want to eat anything to pick from the tree anyway, why bother to plough the ground, sow seeds, and the pie that falls from the sky is not fragrant? But the development of a place is closely related to the local people, and the reason why our country has developed so rapidly in recent decades is because we have the most industrious people in the world.
The "sausage tree" of Africans emits a rat smell when the flowers bloom, and tourists in our country dare not eat it
