BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- A music sharing meeting to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of French music giant Saint-Sang was held at The Taorantian Art Space in Beijing on the 25th.

In 2021, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of the great French composer Charles Camille Saint-Saën, violinist Chen Xi, pianist Sun Jiayi and cellist Shi Xin, three outstanding young chinese musicians, jointly recorded a full set of trio albums of Saint-Saën pianos. It is reported that this set of works is also the first time that Chinese musicians have recorded and published.

The three musicians have a deep relationship, they all studied at the Central Conservatory of Music, and later studied at the Curtis School of Music in the United States, and their dual alumni status makes their understanding of music more consistent. Based on this tacit understanding, the three musicians wanted to pay tribute to the special year of the 100th anniversary of saint-saën's death, and the most authentic tribute was in the form of records and performances. So the three of them hit it off and decided to record two piano trios created by Saint-Saën. When the two works are placed together, the audience can more intuitively feel the original intention of the composer's creation.

Another feature of the album was the way it was recorded, instead of choosing a traditional recording studio or concert hall, it chose to record concurrently in a villa. This way of recording is not common, why choose this way? Liu Da, the producer and producer of the record, explained that the ensemble album is different from the recording of traditional albums, and the most important thing is to capture the fusion sound of several instruments colliding and interweaving, rather than the sound of a single instrument, here several instruments have the oriental aesthetic of "gentleness and humility", and also the expressiveness of "you sing and I appear". Therefore, in the recording, it is necessary to take into account the higher dimension of the acoustic art aesthetic, including the environment, atmosphere, density and even the correlation of the performance mood in the recording sequence. The reason for choosing to record in the villa is that in this non-working environment, the performers and recording engineers can record and polish the sound more soothingly and relaxedly, rather than always having the feeling of "working" in the studio or concert hall. People can focus on "listening" rather than simply "playing", and then find a new resonance and new fusion between people and instruments, with recording equipment, and with the built environment. This is very much in line with the temperament of Saint-Saën's works and the romantic style of French works, and it is also the pleasure and realm of recording.
