Millennium fire culture
Changsha Fire Palace used to be a temple dedicated to the fire god, also known as "Qianyuan Palace".
The Fire Palace is divided into a front and a backyard, the front floor includes the ancient archway, the opera stage, and the fire temple, and the backyard includes three temples: the Temple of Wealth, the Miluo Pavilion, and the Puci Pavilion.
In fact, the fire palace was originally dedicated to the fire god, and in ancient times, there were fire temples in many places. When the ancients lost fire, they had to kill a chicken, take a bottle of wine to the fire temple and light a few incense sticks to worship, the fire god is Chongli, that is, Zhu Rong.
Legend has it that Zhu Rong's birthday is the 23rd of June in the lunar calendar, and every year on June 23 of the lunar calendar, a large-scale sacrifice will be held, and on this day, the crowds in the Fire Palace are bustling and lively.

The story of the Fire Palace
The Changsha Fire Palace is the largest fire temple in Hunan, and fire temples are also built in other localities and counties. The Changsha Fire Temple is a fire temple jointly sacrificed by the two levels of governments in Changsha Province and Changsha County and Shanhua County. After the Xinhai Revolution, the official government public worship activities stopped. However, the folk worship activities have continued, and the popularity of the Fire Palace has been enduring.
Beginning in the sixth year of Daoguang (1826), folk memorial activities have sacrifices, there are operas, there are people to see, some people come to see, some people come to sell snacks, at first it is a basket sale, and then there are small stalls, doing snack business, coming in the morning, going back in the evening. Slowly, a lively snack market was formed.
In 2001, the Fire Palace was renovated and expanded again, restoring the Fire Temple, the Ancient Opera Stage, the Fire Palace Tea House, the Modification of the Fire Palace Arch, and the addition of the Stone Arch, which is the Fire Palace seen today. In 2006 and 2008, the Fire Palace Fire Temple will be included in the first batch of provincial and second national intangible cultural heritage lists, respectively.

"The delicacy that Chairman Mao is worried about"
When Mao Zedong returned to Hunan in 1958, he still remembered the "stinky tofu" of the fire palace, and he did not want to make a wish until he tasted it. Today, the various snacks here are a "living business card" for publicizing Hunan snacks.
In February 1938, Changsha's "Observation Daily" wrote under the title of "Fire Palace, Eating, Drinking, and Lemen Gate, Fried Stinky Tofu is the Most Famous": "As long as you smell that smell, it should make you salivate." Who isn't the one who goes there to walk around?"
