The Center for Central Asian Studies successfully held an academic lecture by Professor Zhang Ning, Distinguished Professor of Northwest University

At 10:00 on April 15, 2021, the Center for Central Asian Studies of the Silk Road Research Institute invited Zhang Ning, director of the Central Asia Research Office of the Russian Institute of Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and distinguished professor of Northwest University, to give an academic lecture entitled "The Current Situation in Kazakhstan". Cai Yanbin, vice president of the Silk Road Research Institute, presided over the lecture, and teachers and students of the Silk Road Research Institute attended the lecture.

In the lecture, Researcher Zhang Ning made a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of Kazakhstan's national conditions from the current political, economic, social, diplomatic and epidemic situation of Kazakhstan. The lectures covered many issues, such as the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, the economic situation during the epidemic, the financial flows of natural persons in China, the social effects of the rejuvenation of the population, extremist forces and cybersecurity, the exchanges between China, Russia, the United States and other countries and Kazakhstan, the changes in the situation in Kazakhstan since the epidemic and its coping strategies. On the basis of a comprehensive description of the current situation in Kazakhstan, the lecture further explored the significance and problems faced by china and Kazakhstan in developing a strategic cooperative partnership.

After the lecture, the teachers and students of the Silk Road Research Institute discussed the content of the lecture with Researcher Zhang Ning, and Researcher Zhang Ning gave detailed answers to the questions of teachers and students in turn. Finally, Vice President Cai Yanbin made a concluding speech, pointing out that the research in related Central Asian fields serves the construction of the national "Belt and Road" and has important academic value and practical significance. The successful holding of this academic lecture has played a positive role in broadening the research horizons of teachers and students of the Silk Road Research Institute and deepening their understanding of Kazakhstan's national conditions.
