After the death of his wife, the open-minded Zhuangzi was not only not sad, but "drummed and sang". Keiko, who went to mourn, thought he was crazy and asked, "Your wife has lived with you for so many years, having children for you, taking care of the housework, and now that she is dead, you are not sad and you don't cry, how can you still knock on the pot and sing, don't you think you are too much?" ”
When Zhuangzi heard this, he stopped and said slowly, "Man originally had no life, everyone is formed by a chaotic qi in the universe of heaven and earth, and then lives in his own shell, temporarily having so-called life." My wife did not die, she just left this shell and returned to the universe of heaven and earth. There is no need to live a life of hunger and cold, and endure the torture of life, old age, illness and death. Isn't it too incomprehensible that she has just returned to her original form, and now she is floating quietly in the boundless universe, and I am going to cry and weep here? ”
Taoists believe that the human soul is a chaotic qi that originates from the universe of heaven and earth.
Before the soul enters the human shell, it floats freely between the universe and the earth.

Then, as a representative of the Taoist idea of "transcending things and interacting with the spirit of heaven and earth alone", how luxurious would Zhuangzi's funeral be?
Zhuangzi was seriously ill, and he was about to die. The disciples gathered to discuss what kind of funeral to prepare and what kind of funeral to bury the teacher. When Zhuangzi found out about this, he called all his disciples to the bedside and said intermittently, "You don't need to prepare anything, I have prepared a huge coffin and an incomparably luxurious funeral for myself." The disciples all widened their eyes and hurriedly asked, "Teacher, what funeral products did you prepare for yourself?" How big is the coffin? ”
Zhuangzi smiled and said, "Heaven and earth are my coffins, the sun and the moon are my two pieces of jade, the stars in the sky are my pearls and gems, and everything under the heavens is my funerary product." My coffin is not big enough? Isn't a funeral luxurious enough? ”
When the disciple heard that the teacher was going to be buried naked, and there was not even a coffin, wouldn't he be pecked at by crows and eagles? They all disagreed.
Zhuangzi continued, "If a corpse is placed between heaven and earth, it will be pecked by crows and eagles, so isn't the corpse buried in the ground also going to be bitten by ants?" If you have to take the food of the crow eagle to feed the ants, how can a person be so eccentric? The disciples bowed their heads in shame when they heard this, and did not say a word again.
Death is an eternal topic of human beings, and most people are very afraid of death, talking about death and discoloration. However, Zhuangzi faced it calmly with the open-minded and detached attitude of "living in accordance with nature and dying in accordance with nature", which is really admirable.
