Tile CEO CJ Prober recently said that despite unfair competition from Apple's similar product AirTag, the company's revenue has risen. After Apple released its AirTag tracking system in May 2021, Prober said his company welcomed the competition. However, he wants the competition to be fair and expresses concerns about antitrust.

Tile: Despite unfair competition from AirTag, the company's revenue has risen

In an interview with Wired, CJ Prober said tile was doing well in competition with Apple. "We've sold more than 40 million Tiles," he says. Revenue in the first half of this year is growing."

He continued: "The activation of third-party products is a big focus for us, and we have increased by more than 200% year-on-year. Business is good. We're seeing really strong business momentum – despite unfair competition from Apple."

CJ Prober said that not so long ago you could buy Tile merchandise on the Apple Store, but then we were kicked out by Apple. He said Apple has made changes to the iOS system, canceling our experience in favor of AirTags and find My networks.

"It's all about differentiating AirTag and Tile from Apple's way of doing things, which are platform features they keep for themselves," he says. Seamless activation [e.g.] is not available to third parties. Still, our business is doing well, but if Apple can put us fair, we'll be better off."

Apple said: "We provided apis this summer and have been working with UWB chipset developers to ensure iOS compatibility – some already have development kits available for purchase. We've always been competing for the best way to drive a good experience for our customers, and we've been working hard to build a platform in iOS that enables third-party developers to thrive."
