Unconsciously, the first part of the Harry Potter film series has been released for 20 years. Yes, it's been twenty years since we first saw Dan Harry, Ron, and Hermione at Hogwarts together. Thanks to this milestone, we learned that three former young actors are planning a reunion, ready to play a special encounter scene on HBO Max.
HBO Max announced that a streaming special called Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will be released on the first day of the new year. The announcement released a short trailer with no footage of the special show itself, but it definitely made us happy to see such former friends from the new group to recall their experiences.
As the trailer reveals, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will star in the anniversary special, but they are by no means alone. Also involved in the return to Hogwarts were Hagrid, Robbie Cortland, Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Imelda Stanton (Dolores Umbridge), Ian Hart (Professor Quirrell), Mark Williams (Arthur Malfoy), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) and Jason Isaac (Lucius Malfoy).
Of course, more Hogwarts kids joined, including Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Avena Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), and James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley). The first two directors in the back of the Harry Potter film Chris Columbus will also be present along with "More", which has yet to be revealed.
It sounds like "Back to Hogwarts" may be similar to HBO Max's ", which brought together the cast of popular episodes years later. The special followed Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Cudjol, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBron and David Schweimer, who reacted to their return to the set and conducted numerous interviews and cast performances over the nearly two-hour run.
The Harry Potter trio has actually developed well over the years. The upcoming re-appearance of the trio on January 1, 2022, will be a big expectation for Muggle fans. HBO Max is also home to all eight Harry Potter films, and JK Rowling's Wizarding World will continue to work with Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore's Secret, which will be released on April 15, 2022.
