The unveiling of the bronze statue of Hu Qiuyuan
On the autumn wind, the leaves fall back to the roots, and the wandering soul returns to the hometown. The unveiling ceremony of the bronze statue of Mr. Hu Qiuyuan, a famous patriotic scholar and veteran writer, was held in the "Republic Garden" of Changyuan Park in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. At the same time, the ashes of Hu Kangmin, Hu Qiuyuan's father and son were also buried here. Representatives from all walks of life from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as the descendants of Mr. Hu Qiuyuan and his relatives attended the unveiling ceremony.

The unveiling ceremony of the bronze statue was presided over by Wan Hong, deputy mayor of Huangpi District, Wuhan. Wan Hong spoke highly of Mr. Hu Qiuyuan's patriotic feelings; Mr. Chen Dakang, chairman of the Taipei Huangpi Hometown Association, delivered a speech on behalf of his fellow villagers in Huangpi, Taiwan. Chen Dakang recalled: "Elder Hu was rigorous in his studies, unsurpassed, and a kind elder, who always gave people a sense of intimacy and warmth when interacting with his fellow villagers! ”

Wang Xiaobo, a well-known professor at National Taiwan University and editor-in-chief of Taipei's Straits Review magazine, delivered a written speech for the unveiling of the bronze statue, which was read by Hu Bukai, the son of Mr. Hu Qiuyuan. Wang Xiaobo's written speech spoke highly of Mr. Hu Qiuyuan's concern for national rejuvenation, "he is the spiritual teacher of the Taiwan reunification faction and the glory of the Huangpi people." Now that he is buried in his hometown, he will erect a monument and pass it on, and he will be named khan and green, and he will be passed on to future generations."

The tree is tall and the leaves fall back to their roots. Hu Qiuyuan had always had a long-cherished wish: the book returned to his hometown, and the soul returned to Huangpi. In 2010, the children donated 8,000 books from their family collection to Wuhan University, Huangpi No. 1 Middle School, Huangpi No. 3 Middle School and Experimental Middle School respectively, realizing the first wish of the old man; in the autumn of 2017, Hu Qiuyuan's sons Hu Bukai and Hu Yi, together with his wife Hu Daijinju, returned to their hometown to discuss the return of Hu Qiuyuan's father and son's soul to Huangpi with the United Front Work Department of the Huangpi District CPC Committee, the District Taiwan Affairs Office and Changyuan, and promoted Hu Shushi and Hu Bukai's brothers to donate a bronze statue of Mr. Hu Qiuyuan to Changyuan. On the same day, the relatives of the Hu clan at home and abroad also held a burial ceremony for the ashes of Hu Kangmin, Hu Qiuyuan and Hu Yeyong. The ashes of Hu's father and son were transported back from Taipei and the United States and buried in the Gonghe Garden of Huangpi Changyuan. At this point, the wish of Hu Gong's soul to return to his hometown was successfully realized.

In his speech, Mr. Hu Bukai said: "The 'Chinese Dream' proposed in 2012. I sounded very homely at the time. Because as early as September 3, 1988, my father gave a lecture on "China's Unification, Reconstruction and Rejuvenation" at the University of California, Berkeley. In other words: Isn't the 'great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation' the dream of my father's generation and my generation Chinese? My father was buried in the Republic Garden here today, not only fulfilling his last wish to return to the roots of the fallen leaves; if there is knowledge in the underground, his old man lying in the land of the great Chinese nation that has finally been revived, he will definitely laugh and feel worthwhile! ”

As the author of Hu Qiuyuan's first full biography, "Hu Qiuyuan: From the Giant Pen of the War of Resistance to the "Icebreakers" on Both Sides of the Strait" (by Pei Gaocai, Kyushu Publishing House), and the planner of this event, I especially recited the sacrifice text in the Huangpi dialect of Hu Qiuyuan's favorite hometown, with the inscription Cloud:
