Since the cold winter, Song Linji, director of the Liugong Island Sika Deer Conservation Area of the China Green Development Council, has been thinking about the sika deer in the protected area. On this day, he gathered the relevant volunteers of the protected area, braved the cold wind, took a boat to set foot on the wild sika deer protection area on Liugong Island of the Green Society, carried out patrol work, and used cameras, telescopes and other equipment to observe the living conditions of the sika deer.

In the warm winter sun, brushing away the glittering thatched flowers, against the background of tall trees and green and golden yellow leaves, I can see the huge horned stags above their heads in an arrogant posture and pacing calmly. At this stage, the peak season of male deer attacking each other and competing for females has basically passed, and it can be seen from a distance that some of the male deer's long horns have been broken, and some of the males are lying lazily on the grass, looking at the distance with a depressed face; some of the males gracefully extend their necks and eat the remaining green leaves or favorite plants, and the female deer are in groups of three or five, taking the fawns for a leisurely walk. If you look closely, you'll see that there will be a deer in the group who plays a vigilant role, always looking around, and whenever the wind blows, it will signal and take the young deer without a trace.

Natural selection, survival of the fittest, with the gradual cold of the weather, the body color of the wild sika deer living on Liugong Island is no longer as bright as in summer, and it is timely replaced with a dark color that is more in line with the surrounding environment.

Near dusk, volunteers took the time to rest and eat dinner in order to patrol a little longer. When you come down the hill at night, you will find wild sika deer wandering around the iron fence around the golf course.

With curiosity, at about 5:30 a.m. the next morning, just after dawn, the volunteers came to the vicinity of the golf course under the mountain again, crept along, quietly observed, and found that there were only a few sika deer scattered under the mountain, and did not see a large herd. Subsequently, the volunteers rushed to the mountain despite the cold and began another day of patrolling.

Stepping on the frost, the feet are cold and wet, the volunteers forge ahead, enter the ravine, climb the hill, and finally observe and photograph the scene of the sika deer foraging in groups in the morning sun, these valuable video materials will provide an important reference for better research and protection of the sika deer.
