In 1929, Chairman Mao was betrayed by traitors, surrounded by heavy enemy troops, and rescued by "a group of nobles" when he was in danger

Mencius said: "The heavens will descend upon the Slovaks, and they must first suffer their hearts, strain their bones, and starve their bodies." Looking at Chairman Mao's life, we can find that from the beginning of embarking on the road of asking for the people's lives and fighting for the revolution, his life and safety have always been coveted by the enemy.

Mencius also famously said that "those who have gained the Tao have more help, and those who have lost the Tao have little help", and Chairman Mao's experience of falling into various traps in the early stage of the revolution but being able to escape from danger smoothly can be called the destiny of heaven. In the summer of 1929, when he was recuperating in niumupu village in Jinfeng Yongding County, Chairman Mao was again leaked by the spies, and the Kuomintang reactionaries sent more than ten times more troops than our side to round up.

Mao Zedong and the peasants had a cordial conversation

In the summer of 1929, the Red Fourth Army held the "Seventh National Congress" in Longyan, Fujian Province, and Mao Zedong's advanced and grand strategic vision was not accepted for a while, and he could not continue to serve as the former secretary of the Red Fourth Army. For Mao Zedong, who was ambitious to advance the revolutionary process, the incident made him very disappointed.

Two days later, the Minxi Special Committee, which was about to convene its first congress, sent an invitation to Mao Zedong, hoping that he would go to Jiaoyang in Shanghang to guide the local peasant revolutionary work. Mao Zedong regained his mood and came to western Fujian under the pseudonym "Yang Ziren", and in just one month he organized the local peasant groups in an orderly manner, and the CPC's congress in western Fujian was also successfully convened.

After the meeting, Mao Zedong fell ill with malaria. At the current level of medical care, this kind of pendulum disease is not serious, but in that era of lack of medical care, malaria was a highly contagious and fatal disease. In order to let Mao Zedong recuperate well, the organization sent Su Yu, who was not yet famous at that time, to serve as the commander of the guard company to escort Mao Zedong to the home of a party member cadre in Xiazhai Village, Yongding County, to rest.

At first, Su Yu considered that asking a doctor for treatment might leak the wind, and everyone hoped that Mao Zedong could gradually kill the virus with the resistance of the human body. Later, the situation of Mao Zedong's pendulum became more and more serious, and everyone panicked and began to ask the doctor to see.

However, the local barefoot doctors are not very good, and many are afraid of being infected, and after seeing them, they leave in a hurry. Several doctors were invited back and forth, but Mao's condition had not yet improved, and the organization was afraid that the enemy would detect that the Red Army was in the villagers' homes, so it made a second transfer of Mao Zedong.

Mao Zedong in the twenties

After deliberation, they selected the mountainous and tree-rich village of Niu mu po. The mass base of Niumupu Village is good, and the environment is quiet, suitable for hiding and recuperation. Chen Tianyu in the village was one of the members of the Red Guards, and usually actively participated in the struggle to divide the land among local tycoons, so the organization arranged for Mao Zedong to live in his home.

At this time, Mao Zedong still used his pseudonym "Yang Ziren", but Chen Tianyu, who spoke Hakka, mistook him for "director" and shouted "Director Yang" to Mao Zedong every day. As half a soldier of the Red Army, Chen Tianyu had great respect for the Red Army and took good care of Mao Zedong. At that time, the people's lives were still very poor, and Chen Tianyu saved all the eggs in the family for Mao Zedong as a nutritional product.

After only 4 days in Chen Tianyu's home, the soldiers of the guard company found that the enemy's activities around the area gradually became more and more frequent. So Mao Zedong proposed to move again, at which point Chen Tianyu proposed that he could hide five kilometers away in the Tianzi mountains, where the mountains were high and densely forested, and the enemy could not find them.

Chen Tianyu took a few villagers to the mountains to collect bamboo in situ, and in three or five days he built 3 bamboo squatters, two for people, and one for the kitchen. The first application utensils in the bamboo liao are fully prepared, not only the beds and tables and chairs made of bamboo, but also the utensils such as chopsticks and baskets used for everyone's meals are made of local materials.

Mao Zedong was in a very happy mood in this beautiful and elegant environment, and after two days of living, his illness even alleviated a lot. He found a fir board of more than a foot in the mountains, and wrote down the four big characters of "Rao Feng's Study" with a pen, which hung above the door frame of the bamboo liao, which was more like a place where high-ranking people lived in seclusion.

Although it looks very elegant, after all, it is really uninhabited in the deep mountains, and there are often snakes, insects, rats and ants in the bamboo liao, which is not life-threatening, but it causes enough trouble. Seeing the peasant friends who enthusiastically helped the Red Army, Mao Zedong consciously embarked on a correct path, and his revolutionary will was thus strengthened.

Mao Zedong read books and newspapers while recuperating from illness in the bamboo liao, thinking about the next step and future development of the Chinese revolution day and night, Chen Tianyu would come from home every day to visit Mao Zedong and others, and every time he came, he brought eggs and other foods that he was reluctant to eat to supplement Mao Zedong's nutrition.

During the 28 days he lived in Zhuliao, Mao Zedong would take advantage of the malaria outbreak to go down the mountain for a walk, help the peasants do a little farm work within their ability, talk to them about the differences between now and the past when they planted land for the landlords, and propagate revolutionary theories and ideas to them without a trace.

The people in the village respected this "Mr. Yang", and when a vigilante group came over, they would try their best to help him cover up. But there were always one or two bad elements in the crowd, and the village's original advocate Kezhi was full of resentment towards the Red Army. He did not know Mao's true identity, and guessed from his unusual temperament and talk that he was a big figure in the Communist Party.

Zhang Kezhi ran to the headquarters of the militia in the county and informed the regimental commander Lin Weimin that a group of Red Army soldiers had come from his village, and one of them was the leader of the Communist Party. Lin Weimin, who only wanted to make meritorious achievements, told the news to Liang Ruogu, the county magistrate of Tai Po County, and planned to carry out a plan to arrest Mao Zedong on September 17.

According to the news reported by Zhang Kezhi, this "Mr. Yang" in the village had a malaria attack every two days, and September 17 happened to be the day he fell ill, and on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival in the lunar calendar, the people in the village would stay at home, so that the "red bandits" and "bandits" could be eliminated.

Lin Weimin and Liang Ruogu gathered 13 militia regiments and more than 600 people from the Tai Po County Security Regiment, and on the morning of September 17, they surrounded the village of Niu mu po in a mighty manner. According to Zhang Kezhi, Lu Zhong, the leader of the local peasant Red Guards, was guarding Mao Zedong on the mountain, and the vigilante group directly set fire to Lu Zhong's family's house.

The house was burned down, and Lu Zhong's wife ran to the mountain in a panic to report to Lu Zhong, and her keen intuition made Lu Zhong instantly perceive the enemy's plan, and estimated that behind his wife was the enemy who was following him. He quickly approached Su Yu, the commander of the guard company, to discuss combat measures and transfer plans.

At this time, the guard company sent out some personnel for official duties, leaving only more than 50 soldiers and peasant Red Guards. Su Yu immediately made a decision and led the team to the village of Niumu to block the enemy and let the Red Guards protect Mao Zedong's transfer. Out of familiarity with the terrain, Su Yu and others gained the upper hand for a short time, providing time for Mao Zedong's transfer.

Chen Tianyu and several Members of the Red Guards had originally planned to carry Mao Zedong on a stretcher, but there was no way to maintain a balance between the front and back as they ascended the mountain, so Chen Tianyu and another person carried Mao Zedong's shoulder forward. Unfortunately, he didn't go far, and mao Zedong, who was ill, sweated like rain and went weak.

The enemy was too many troops, the guards fought and retreated, and the sound of gunfire was getting closer and closer. The Red Guards temporarily decided to send Mao to the nearest village, Yudingping, only 10 miles away. However, Mao Zedong could not stand up at this time, and Chen Tianyu proposed to carry him behind his back, but Mao Zedong did not agree to it and advised Chen Tianyu and others to abandon themselves and leave quickly. Chen Tianyu pretended not to hear him go first, and as soon as he put the tall Mao Zedong on his back, he pulled out his leg and ran forward.

Although it is only a short 10 miles, it is an extremely difficult journey for Chen Tianyu, who is carrying people on his back. Other shorter comrades could not afford to carry Mao Zedong at all, and Chen Tianyu could not find a replacement. The rugged mountain road occasionally has some stones and thorny weeds, and Chen Tianyu, who wears straw shoes, leaves a trail of bloody footprints.

Mao Zedong asked him to let go of himself in the bumps, but Chen Tianyu could not hear anything, he ran at a high speed on the familiar mountain road with instinct, he could not feel the pain in his feet, nor could he hear the sounds of the outside world, only with tenacious willpower, he rushed straight into Yudingping Village.

After meeting the people who came to meet him, Chen Tianyu put Mao Zedong down and directly fainted on the ground. Just like the correspondent who travels hundreds of miles on TV, he runs to the destination completely by instinct and perseverance, and while completing the goal, he also reaches the limit of life.

Mao Dragged his weak body and the villagers to the house, only to find that he was bleeding profusely on his feet, and that gravel and thorns were all over the soles of his feet. After wiping Chen Tianyu clean, someone took the sewing needle and picked out the thorns on his feet one by one.

Mao Zedong looked at the blood on Chen Tianyu's feet and the sweaty clothes on his body, thinking that he had run so far on his back all the way, he was speechless and choked, and only kept sighing: "Thanks to Comrade Chen Tianyu!" ”

Mao Zedong in western Fujian

The next day the organization sent someone to pick up Mao Zedong, who borrowed paper and pencil from the Comrades of the Red Guards, wrote a 3 yuan IOU, and wrote down the names of all the peasants on it. According to the price at that time, eight cents could buy 3 kilograms of meat, and nine years later, the eighth route army division commander only had a salary of 5 yuan a month, which showed the weight of these 3 yuan.

After handing over the IOU to Chen Tianyu, Mao Zedong told him to wait for the victory of the revolution to come to him. Chen Tianyu took this IOU and watched Mao Zedong and the team leave, at this time Chen Tianyu did not know that "Director Yang" was Mao Zedong, and he did not know how important the person he had returned was for China.

Interestingly, a few months after Mao Zedong left the village, the Comintern also published an obituary about him in the International News Newsletter. They did not expect that Mao Zedong would be able to escape from death when he was suffering from malaria and surrounded by heavy enemies, nor did they expect that there were many benevolent and righteous people like Chen Tianyu in China, and the deeds of self-sacrifice abounded in the land of China.

After the founding of New China, Chen Tianyu and other talents heard about the true identity of "Director Yang" and also understood the importance of the IOU. It was just that the IOU had long since disappeared, and Chen Tianyu did not care at all, he had never thought of asking Chairman Mao for a return. Only some villagers would occasionally jokingly mention it, not knowing whether Chairman Mao remembered us or not.

Chairman Mao certainly remembers! Before the National Day in 1953, Chairman Mao invited Chen Tianyu to Beijing as a peasant representative to attend the National Day ceremony. Chen Tianyu was excited after receiving the invitation, but soon another worry came to mind: Chen Tianyu's wife's due date was approaching, and Chen Tianyu, who was not confused, was looking forward to the arrival of his first child, and he had to give the honor of going to Beijing to watch the ceremony to his cousin Chen Kuiyu.

Chairman Mao met with peasant representatives

Unexpectedly, as soon as Chairman Mao saw Chen Kuiyu, he recognized that he was not the person who carried himself on his back, but a comrade who was looking at the tea barrel, because Chen Kuiyu was not tall, and he could not even let Chairman Mao's feet leave the ground. However, Chairman Mao still warmly shook hands with Chen Kuiyu and said to him: "My experience in treating diseases in Niumu is unforgettable. I have always thought of you, I have not forgotten you, and the Republic will not forget you. ”

The simple peasants in the mountains of western Fujian are a portrayal of the thousands of kind Chinese masses, who have never hesitated to help people. But the more important reason is that the Red Army and Mao Zedong's personal experience and help for the situation of the people have been exchanged for the love and respect of the masses for them. The achievements of the Communist Party, the People's Liberation Army and New China today perfectly explain the connotation of "getting more help from the right way".
