Jia Guanghui: Qi Jiguang's strength and weakness

author:Takeshi
Editor's note: Qi Jiguang is a national hero, but also has a deep relationship with martial arts, and his book "Ji Xiao Xinshu" has a content related to folk martial arts and boxing, but it has become the most widely circulated chapter.

With the increase in the collection and collation of Qi Jiguang's historical sites, I have continuously deepened my understanding of national heroes, and genius is rare. In addition to reverence, a special feeling arises, that is, the strength and weakness in Qi Jiguang's personality endowment, contradictory and integrated into each other in all aspects. Qi Jiguang's strength lies in training the invincible Qi family army in the world, killing 100,000 Wukou, beating the Uighur kingdom completely frightened, ending the Wu plague that has ravaged China for more than 260 years; in the northern town for 16 years, he also beat the Mongol leader to detain the pass and surrender, and the Ming Dynasty was solved in the southern and northern provinces during the Qi Jiguang period. The deeds of the ancients will be passed on forever in the future generations. However, Qi Jiguang was weak and even weak and deceitful, and became the target of bullying in the official arena, including the snobs who worked with him and did not work with him. In the face of many exclusions and bullying, Qi Jiguang repeatedly swallowed his anger and endured humiliation and burden, and ended up in a desolate old age of passive rectification and the end of the hero.

Jia Guanghui: Qi Jiguang's strength and weakness

Qi Jiguang's strength is to create a thousand immortal and unsurpassed feats.

This is mainly due to the fact that Qi Jiguang solved the huge crisis of "Southern Wu and Northern Raiders" that had oppressed the Ming Dynasty for two hundred years. Qi Jiguang embarked on the battlefield of Zhejiang in the 34th year of Jiajing (1555), and began a 13-year combat career in Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong to eliminate the Wukou, with more than 80 battles before and after, each time winning the battle, and achieving the elimination of evil and extermination, and the head of the Wukou was cut off to ask for credit. Although some outstanding generals temporarily defeated the Wokou, they could never get rid of the Wokou, and the southeast coast had been in a miserable situation full of poison, until Qi Jiguang arrived, and the situation was completely reversed.

Qi Jiguang almost wiped out the invading Wokou in Zhejiang, and fled to Fujian in advance. After several major battles and dozens of battles, Qi Jiguang completely swept away the woes and saved Fujian; then, together with Yu Dayu, he pursued them to Guangdong and Annan, eliminating Wu Ping, a traitor to the Wu dynasty, and from then on there was no more woe on the southeast coast.

The plague had just subsided, and the Mongols in the north invaded on a large scale, and the imperial court urgently dispatched Qi Jiguang to the north to guard the Beijing Division. Qi Jiguang was appointed as the commander-in-chief of Jizhen, who defended the north for 16 years, defeated the Mongol Iron Horse several times, and also captured the Chieftain of Duoyanbu alive (one of which was the Mongol Iron Horseman 30,000 into the Kou, who was defeated by Qi Jiguang with a mixed cavalry and infantry group army of the Car Battalion, and captured the enemy chieftain Bald alive, and then the Mongol leader withheld the pass and surrendered). Since then, the Thistle Town Defense Zone has eliminated border troubles. Qi Jiguang led his soldiers to build the Great Wall for more than 2,000 miles on a large scale, which still stands majestically in the north.

Qi Jiguang's battle exploits are unique in ancient times, and this is the most dignified period in the history of the Chinese in teaching the barbarians, so that countless people in later generations deeply remember him and yearn for such a brave and talented warrior to appear again. Unfortunately, five hundred years have passed, and there is no one like him. Qi Jiguang has become a miracle that cannot be surpassed by future generations. This is Qi Jiguang's strength.

Jia Guanghui: Qi Jiguang's strength and weakness

Qi Jiguang's weakness is beyond ordinary people.

Although Qi Jiguang has achieved the extreme of a man's bullying, which is also the evaluation of historian Huang Renyu, Qi Jiguang is also a person who is bullied and is good at swallowing his voice.

This is first reflected in the fact that he is famous for being afraid of his wife. There is an allusion that goes like this: because the original Wang clan could not have children, they have not had children, Qi Jiguang was forced by the pressure of no queen to secretly take concubines outside, and later after being known by the Wang clan, the Wang clan was jealous and carried a sword everywhere to find him to settle accounts. Qi Jiguang was chased and hid in many places, and finally he really couldn't hide, so he went to bear the guilt of Jingjing, and after confessing his pain, the husband and wife hugged and cried, and only then did they settle.

Second, in front of his superiors, he was meek and had no obvious resistance. Originally, in view of the reality that the Ming army was defeated and defeated again and again, he proposed that after the training was vetoed by Hu Zongxian, the governor of Zhejiang Province, he did not insist on going his own way, or continued to write, fortunately, Hu Zongxian appreciated his talent, did not blame him, and allowed him to train troops, and finally trained the "Qi family army" that was invincible and invincible and famous all over the world. Even though he was innocently removed from his post and made meritorious contributions to the battle of Cen Gang, he did not defend himself and continued to fight; Qi Jiguang aided Minzhong and led the Qi family army to enter Fujian for the first time with difficulty, and fought several victorious battles along the Fujian coast, but did not get the grain and heavy replenishment they deserved, let alone rewards, Qi Jiguang did not make trouble with his superiors, but tried his best to comfort the Qi family army. After eliminating the stubborn Wokou on Hengyu Island, the Qi family army had no food or clothing, and homesickness and resentment spread in the army, which was really top to bottom. Qi Jiguang suppressed his anger and sorrow, and actually had a unique idea, creating the first military song in China's military history, "Triumphant Song", leading the Qi family army to starve on the beach to the moon of the Mid-Autumn Festival, singing about the festival, and the next day led the Qi family army to continuously raid the cattle field and the bloody battle of the forest pier, and won many great victories. The whole of Fujian boiled and celebrated, and many gentry spontaneously built ancestral shrines to express their gratitude.

Based on the fact that the Qi family army was injured in the first bloody battle, and the Wukou were menacing again, Qi Jiguang had to return to Yiwu, Zhejiang To recruit troops. However, the tragic reality that Xinghua Province was immediately attacked by Wu Kou made Qi Jiguang anxious, but zhao Bingran, the governor who succeeded Hu Zongxian, actually obstructed the recruitment of troops, and even more did not give travel expenses, and other officials were also tripping, fortunately, thanks to Wang Daokun's help, Qi Jiguang was able to once again lead troops to help Fujian to suppress Wu, otherwise, Fujian would not be saved. When I was investigating now, many people in Fujian no longer remembered Qi Jiguang's historical merits.

Jia Guanghui: Qi Jiguang's strength and weakness

Later, in the third year of Longqing, in order to suppress Qi Jiguang, the ruler Gao Gong arrested his great generals Wang Rulong, Jin Ke, and Zhu Yu in the name of anti-corruption, and Qi Jiguang wrote to defend them, but the three still did not get the opportunity to seek justice, and were sent to Jizhen to endure heavy labor as prisoners, and even died early. Qi Jiguang watched as the love of his subordinates was devastated, but he was powerless to rescue him, so he could only write a "Sacrifice to the King Counselor" after Wang Rulong's death to vent his mournful feelings. When he was in Jizhen, it was the peak of Qi Jiguang's exhaustion. Some people up and down the left and right were looking for trouble in the open and in the dark, provoking Qi Jiguang, insulting and beating Qi Jiajun, and even torturing Qi Jiguang's generals Wang Rulong and Jin Ke to death. Many Qi family soldiers worked hard to repair the Great Wall and do military affairs, but they were bullied and suppressed by the slippery, vicious, and incompetent Northern Soldiers. They found Qi Jiguang crying, and Qi Jiguang could only helplessly comfort them, and even accompanied them to shed tears.

Again, in the face of the boss, we see a supple Qi Jiguang, but for a subordinate of Hu Zongxian, Dai Chongxiao, who competed with the Qi family army for favors, he chose to be patient. After eliminating the Wukou on Hengyu Island, the Qi family army and Dai Chongxiao's troops were divided into the first rank of the Wukou according to the prior agreement, but Dai Chongxiao wanted to compete for merit, Qi Jiguang at first insisted on acting according to principles, and then had to give in and agree, but Dai Chongxiao was still not satisfied, and even withdrew his troops back to Zhejiang without listening to the greeting, Qi Jiguang went to catch up, and he could not hold back after the good words. A commander who commanded thousands of troops and horses, a commander who was fearfully called "Qi Tiger" by the Wokou, but was persecuted and despised by a boss's family, and his embarrassing state could be imagined.

There is another thing that is enough to reflect Qi Jiguang's style of acting under the fold of the people and bending himself. In the tenth year of the Wanli Calendar, the first assistant Zhang Juzheng died, the backstage fell, qi Jiguang had a sad life, and was soon transferred to Guangdong. Hearing that Qi Jiguang was going south, his friend Wang Daokun was very happy and invited him to stop by the West Lake for a gathering. When Qi Jiguang was accompanied by Wang Daokun and Wang Daoguan to the West Lake Lake Pavilion in Hangzhou, he was already full of high-ranking friends, including Wang Shizhen and Wang Shimao, and Hu Yinglin, a young mountain man who was very good at touting Wang Shizhen and Wang Shizhen, who was also specially elected by Wang Shizhen. After three rounds of drinking, Wang Daoguan was not accustomed to Hu Yinglin's speech and demeanor, believing that he did not deserve the status of the literary world, and through the strength of wine, he attacked Wang Shizhen: Gong Nai He Xuan used poetry to pass on Yuanrui, and so on, he had to ascend to the altar, where would he be placed?

This is a blatant accusation that Wang Shizhen has elected Hu Yinglin, and Hu Yinglin is not a stubble, and there is no one in sight, and he will have an attack on the spot. Wang Daokun and Wang Shizhen were not good at saying anything to stop it, at this time, Qi Jiguang could not sit still, he was good at persuading each other, who knows, Hu Yinglin probably did not come out of his breath, and was trying to take the opportunity to vent, so he turned his face and scolded Qi Jiguang, frightening Qi Jiguang to quickly avoid the table, this matter is recorded in Volume 23 of Shen Defu's "Wan Li Ye Ye Zhi Zhi": (Qi Jiguang) out of soft language and two solutions. Hu Da angrily moved his scolding, and when he saw the coarse man, Qi was frightened and avoided, and urged Yu Duling to go. A general qi da, who was revered as "Mr. Zizong", was actually scolded and run away by a 23-year-old junior junior, according to the identity of a famous general all over the world, this move is really against common sense. However, an a widely circulated drama "Hu Xuezhi Drunkenly Haunting huxin pavilion and Qi Zongbing defeated Wansongling" was compiled, which for a while attracted countless people to see how the invincible Qi Zongbing was defeated.

Qi Jiguang spent 16 years in Jizhen, and thanks to Zhang Juzheng's love, he was able to train troops, fight wars, and build the Great Wall. But after Zhang Juzheng's death, Qi Jiguang was doomed. Wan Li turned his face to liquidate Zhang Juzheng and carried Qi Jiguang with fierceness. The emperor was mean and unkind, and some officials in the court and those who were dissatisfied with Zhang Juzheng created rumors and slandered Qi Jiguang. Under the slander of some villains, Qi Jiguang was transferred to Guangdong. The vicious, dim-witted and incompetent Wanli Emperor still wanted to question the heroes of the first generation, but he gave up thanks to the persuasion of Shoufu Shen Shixing, and finally let him retire home and enter the cold palace. When Qi Jiguang was in Jizhen, he was depressed that his talents could not be displayed, and in the later stages, he was tormented by all kinds of unwarranted suspicions and insults, many diseases occurred, and Superman's martial arts were also abolished, so he suffered exhaustion and returned to his hometown of Penglai.

In the last three years of his hometown, the last huge blow to him was not the premature death of his brother and his own inability to be used, but the abandonment of his wife Wang Shi, the old woman finally turned her face, and even took advantage of Qi Jiguang's illness to suddenly take away a little family wealth and fled back to her mother's house, causing the old hero to have no money to treat his illness, the family was destitute, the sick body was unbearable, and the desolation died! When future generations see such an ending, they are mostly sighing, and the hero's end is very sad!

Therefore, after seeing through Qi Jiguang's 60-year life, most of the time under the fame is actually more painful, not because of the bloody rain and wind of destroying the thieves, but by the humiliation of all kinds of villains and inferior officials, and his personality is distorted. This is the tradition of civil war and infighting with Chinese characteristics, which may create heroes and heroes, but more importantly, it is the destruction of countless geniuses!
