After "Ju Dou", "Big Red Lantern Hanging High", "Hero", "Jinling Thirteen Chao", Zhang Yimou once again began his "Olympic bid" journey, it is reported that Zhang Yimou's film "On the Cliff" will represent Chinese mainland to compete for the 94th Academy Award for Best International Film (formerly the Best Foreign Language Film Award); Hong Kong, China, is selected by Wu Junru to supervise and star in "Mother's Magic Boy"; Taiwan selected and sent Zhong Menghong's "Waterfall".

Zhang Yimou's "Ju Dou" was nominated for an Oscar in 1991, and it was also the first Chinese film to be nominated for an Oscar, after which Zhang Yimou "bid for the Olympic Games" with "Big Red Lantern Hanging High" in 1992, "Hero" in 2003, and "Jinling Thirteen Chao" in 2012.

Last year, the film "Young You", which represented Hong Kong, China's "Olympic bid", was nominated for the 93rd Academy Awards for Best International Film. The last Chinese film nominated for this award dates back to Zhang Yimou's martial arts film Heroes 18 years ago.

The 94th Academy Awards will be held on February 27 next year.
