author:The Paper

On August 22, the day after the 26th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) and the 17th Beijing International Book Festival, a number of publishing houses held press conferences at the BIBF, which focused on copyright, to release the copyrights of foreign works that will be introduced and published in the latest year and the Chinese works that have been launched.

Günter Glass has been in China forty years, and the Humanities Society will publish a new edition of the anthology

On the morning of August 22, at the Beijing International Book Fair, Cai Hongjun, a German-language literary translator and copyright agent, introduced the translation, publication and dissemination of Günter Glass in China over the past four decades. Zang Yongqing, president of the People's Literature Publishing House, announced that the People's Literature Publishing House will successively launch a new edition of the Grass Collection.

In September 1979, Günter Grasse was invited by the German Ambassador to China, Wei Kert, to give lectures at Peking University, Shanghai Overseas Chinese College (now Shanghai Overseas Chinese University) and read his own work "Flounder", and exchanged views with Chinese writers such as Bingxin, Wang Meng, Bai Birch, Ke Yan, and Zhang Yushu, an expert in German literature, in the Ambassador's Study. Ye Tingfang, former president of the Chinese German Literature Research Association, and Hu Qiding, German editor of the People's Literature Publishing House, attended Grasse's lecture at Peking University, and Cai Hongjun, as a sophomore student in the Department of German at Shanghai and Abroad, listened to Grass read his "Flounder".

In 1987, World Literature magazine launched the special issue of Günter Glass, which published The Glass novel "Cat and Mouse" translated by Cai Hongjun and Shi Yanzhi, and the paper on Grass written by Mr. Ye Tingfang. At that time, the editor-in-chief of World Literature was Mr. Gao Mang, and the deputy editor-in-chief was Mr. Li Wenjun. Cai Hongjun is the responsible editor of the Glass special issue of World Literature. Since then, Cai Hongjun, as a copyright agent, has introduced most of Glass's works to China and translated books such as Crab Row, My Century, and Cassette Camera. Cai Hongjun introduced his interaction with Glass over the years as a translator, especially his feelings of participating in the translation Q&A meetings organized by Glass for translators from various countries.

Günter Glass has gained widespread acclaim from readers in China and has also had a great influence on contemporary Chinese writers. Qiu Huadong, Liu Xinwu, Ye Zhaoyan, Xiao Fuxing, Wang Xiaobo, Yang Mu, Yang Zhao, and other writers have all written about Glass's creation.

The People's Literature Publishing House has a deep relationship with Günter Glass. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the People's Literature Publishing House began to cooperate with Shanghai Translation Publishing To publish the "Twentieth Century Foreign Literature Series", and the two societies jointly formulated the selection of topics, selected translators, and divided the work to publish. Glass's "Tin Drum" was included in the title plan of the series at that time. Later, the editorial board of the series decided that "Tin Drum" would be published by the Shanghai Translation Publishing House, and the translation task was entrusted to Hu Qiding, the German editor of the Foreign Literature Editorial Office of the People's Literature Publishing House.

Hu Qiding's translation of "Tin Drum"

In 1987, the illustration of "Cat and Mouse" published in the magazine "World Literature" was drawn by Mr. Zhang Shouyi, art editor and painter of the People's Literature Publishing House. Since then, the single edition of "Cat and Mouse" published by Lijiang Publishing House has also included Zhang Shouyi's illustrations. In 1987, Hu Qiding completed the translation of "Tin Drum". In 1990, "Tin Drum" was published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House and included in the "Twentieth Century Foreign Literature Series".

In 2015, the People's Literature Publishing House published a color illustrated version of My Century, illustrated by Glass himself, edited by senior German editor Tong Baomin. The color plate of My Century was the last book Glass edited during his lifetime. Nie Zhenning, president of the Lijiang Publishing House, which published the Danzig Trilogy before Glass won the Nobel Prize in Literature, later served as president of the People's Literature Publishing House.

At the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair, President Zang Yongqing proposed to Glass's copyright holders through Hercules that the People's Literature Publishing House wanted to publish a series of works by Günter Glass. The Humanities Society has not only published works by classic German-language writers such as the Goethe Collection, the Heine Collection, the Schiller Collection, the Complete Works of Bichner, the Complete Novels of Kafka, and the Schnitzler Works, but also published a series of new works in the contemporary German language scene in its series of "Best Foreign Novels of the Year of the Year in the 21st Century". The People's Literature Publishing House has won the favor of the copyright owners of Grasse's works with its comprehensive strength and unique planning scheme in the field of Chinese and foreign literary publishing.

This year, the Humanities Society will launch the "Glass Reader" selected by Cai Hongjun, which includes Grass's novels, poems, plays, essays and some works of art. President Zang Yongqing said that this year, the Humanities Society has also published the "Singh Self-Selected Works," and will successively launch new editions of the "Sater Collection," "Kuche Collection," "Kenzaburo Oe Collection," and other works of literary masters who have won the Nobel Prize, so as to make up for the shortcomings of the Humanities Society in the field of publishing modern and contemporary foreign literary classics.

Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House published "Prague Story Collection"

During the book fair, the famous Czech writer Svillak's "Prague Stories" series of works was held Chinese the launch of the simplified version of the new book "Light of Prague - The Literary World of Svilak".

The "Prague Stories Collection" series was first introduced to China, translated by Czech literary translator Professor Xu Weizhu and published by Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House. The simplified version of Chinese the series includes "Female Audience", "Missed Love", "Qingqing School Tree", "Prague Etudes" 4 parts, including 19 of Svilak's most important short stories so far, and the original story of 4 world classic films such as "Give Me a Dad", writing the laughter and tears of Czechs for seventy years, which can be called "the glory of Prague, the feast of the Czechs".

The Winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, who published his first collection of novels in the Czech Republic at the age of 72, topped the Czech book bestseller charts as soon as it was published, and his works have become beloved reading in the Czech nation for the next 10 years. His works adhere to the fine tradition of Czech literature, and are good at capturing materials from ordinary life, using warm eyes and humorous brushstrokes to describe imperfect life, presenting readers with both open-mindedness and sadness. According to Jin Maluo, director of the Beijing branch of Zhejiang Literature and Art, Svilak's works have sold more than 1 million copies in the Czech Republic, and on average, one in every 20 people is his reader.

At the press conference, playwright Shi Hang, scholar Yang Zao, and writer Shi Yifeng took turns to share their reading experience of Sverak's works.

Shi Hang believes that what is particularly interesting about Svilak's work is that he makes the essence of literature overcome the past, and it overcomes convergence. "Prague Tales" is not a Prague travel guide book, you will not find Prague more interesting after reading it, but as mr. Svillak, I am happy with us, as to whether you pass by, whether you see us is not important - this is the Czech tone I like.

Scholar Yang Zhao said that Sverak only began to write novels at the age of 72, which is a very inspirational thing. Literary stories should not be an illusory victory for the reader, Sverak's writing is "the literature of the loser", the protagonist of his novel is not a "lying win" person, his writing role is a mocking way in the face of the continuous decline of life, this is everyone's handwriting, is very valuable from life of literature.

Shi Yifeng, a writer of humor and seriousness in his life and works, said that every character in Svilak's "Prague Tales" is plump, like a ripe fruit. The works of the famous Czech writer Hašek are full of Czech tones, and Svilak is also a typical writer with Czech tones.
