Chen Qishi (1795-1842), zi Dunfu, number Ofe Xin, Yunxin, Chenzhou Yaxi people, ju Chenzhou City. When he was young, his endowments were different, and he was more involved in learning. In the eighteenth year of Jiaqing, he went to Changsha to apply for the examination, sent to Yuelu Academy, and became acquainted with Wei Yuan of Shaoyang (present-day Longhui) and became a close friend, and paid tribute to the same branch.

  In the ninth year of Daoguang (1829), he was a jinshi, and the chief of the Examination Department of the Ministry of Officials and the Chief of the Department of Auditing and the Ministry of Officials were routinely revised. Shi Weiyuan was also an official in the capital, and Chen Qishi analyzed the situation in the world with him, talked about the successes and failures of ancient and modern times, studied astronomy, geography, ritual music, wealth, military art, Chinese and Western arithmetic, religion, and other studies, and consulted with each other and repeatedly distinguished difficulties. At that time, people called Chen Qishi "Iron Mask Imperial History", and once impeached the official Shangshu Tang Jinzhao for "seven injustices and great light", as a result, Tang was demoted to the fourth level and retained, and Chen Qishi was also dismissed from his post as a "slow officer". After suffering this blow, he became depressed and fell ill, and died in Chenzhou on December 11, 1842 (January 21, 1842) in Daoguang.

  His major works include the Annals of Confucius, the Four Books of Seeking Truth, the Selected Poems of the Tang Dynasty, the Compass Tukao, the Four Deleted Poems, and the Ancient Texts. Together with Wei Yuan, Tang Peng, and Zuo Zongzhi, The Master of The Master of Jingshi called him the "Four Masters of Hunan".
