After sun quan established the country and became emperor, he gradually began to become arrogant and complacent, and he did not accept advice, so that he committed many serious mistakes in political measures and employment. Especially in his later years, he seemed a little dazed, and reusing Zhuge Ke was not only a helpless move, but also pushed Eastern Wu into the abyss of eternal disaster.
Zhuge Ke was ordered to assist the young emperor Sun Liang, and many of the measures he implemented at first were wise. For example, measures such as tax reductions and exemptions, the removal of officials who monitor the public opinion of officials and the people, and the abolition of some unreasonable systems have all given favors to the people and subordinate officials to a great extent, achieved very good results, and quickly consolidated their position. According to the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Zhuge Ke's "Biography of Zhuge Ke" after zhuge ke implemented these many measures, and whenever he traveled, "the people stretched their necks and thought about it". This shows that he was very popular with the people in his early days.
However, later Zhuge Keli overrode the public opinion, and the Northern Expedition of the Labor Division mobilized the masses, especially after the disastrous defeat in Xincheng, not only seriously affected the national strength of Eastern Wu, but also his prestige and support were suddenly reduced to the extreme. However, at this time, he did not reflect on his decision-making mistakes, but continued to be self-conscious and obstinate, and continued to reorganize his armaments and carry out another Northern Expedition. His arbitrary behavior caused great fluctuations at the time, and also gave Sun Jun a reason and opportunity to replace him.
So who is this Sun Jun? According to the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Sun Jun was Sun Quan's grandson and the great-grandson of his cousin Sun Jing. Because he learned to practice bow horses when he was a teenager and was known for his bravery and boldness, Sun Quan attached great importance to and valued him among his clan relatives in his later years, and before Sun Quan died, he was promoted to general of Wu Wei and crowned as the Marquis of Duxiang, and together with Zhuge Ke and others, he was assisted in the government. Reusing Sun Jun is also another example of Sun Quan's political dimwitting and improper employment in his later years.
According to the "Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, The Biography of Sun Jun", Sun Jun has never had a good reputation, and with his royal status, he is arrogant and murderous, and the subordinate officials and ordinary people dare to be angry with his evil deeds and dare not speak out. During Sun Quan's lifetime, he was somewhat restrained, and since Sun Quan's death, especially in the winter of the second year of Jianxing (253 AD), he had designed to kill Zhuge Ke and become the chancellor and general of Eastern Wu.
After Sun Jun took office, he not only cut off dissidents, dominated the government and the opposition, and defied the deep palace, but also had an affair with Sun Quan's eldest daughter and his own aunt, Princess Luban, and poisoned and killed the deposed crown prince Sun He and the crown princess Zhang Shi. In the first year of Wufeng (254 AD), Sun Ying, the Marquis of Wu of the same clan, was angry but Sun Jun's evil deeds plotted to commit adultery, and as a result, the matter was revealed and sun Jun was beheaded. The following year, Sun Yi of the same clan contacted Zhang Yi, Lin Ke and others to plot again to assassinate but still unsuccessfully, Sun Yi and others were forced to commit suicide, dozens of other people were implicated and killed, and Princess Lu Yu was also implicated in this incident and was given death.
What Sun Jun did after taking over can be said to be a complete traitor, and his evil deeds and impact on the political situation in Eastern Wu were no less than Zhuge Ke's arbitrary behavior. Sun Quan's reuse and indulgence of these two men in his later years was a turning point in Eastern Wu's transition from prosperity to decline to its final demise. However, between Sun Jun and Zhuge Ke, there is another very interesting thing, that is, the relationship between the two of them is very close, so that Zhuge Ke is very lonely after his death, so he returns to take Sun Jun away.
We know from the Records of the Three Kingdoms and the commentaries in the Book of Wu that when Sun Quan first considered the chancellor of The Orphan, he was worried about Zhuge Ke's self-inflicted self-use, and finally it was determined under the protection of Sun Jun, and Zhuge Ke became the first assistant minister of the Orphan. From this point of view, the relationship between Sun Jun and Zhuge Ke is still good. However, after the failure of Zhuge Ke's Northern Expedition, he was killed by Sun Jun and was exterminated. Sun Jun's evil deeds were eventually quickly repaid, and the person who repaid him was Zhuge Ke, who had already died.
According to the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms and the Biography of Sun Jun, in the third year of Wufeng (256 AD), Sun Jun, at the instigation of the general Wen Qin, prepared to send an army to attack Wei. Sun Jun ordered Wen Qin, Lü Zhao, Liu Lu, Zhu Yi, and Tang Zhi to lead their troops from Jiangdu into the Huaisi region, and then capture the prefectures of Qing and Xu. Before the troops set out, Sun Jun personally arrived at Stone City. When he saw that Lü Zhao's troops were strictly groomed, he suddenly felt disgusted, so he made an excuse and said that his heart was hurting and he went back to the camp to rest.
Sun Jun had a nightmare while resting, dreaming that Zhuge Ke's face was abominable and covered in blood to kill him to avenge him, and after Sun Jun woke up from the dream, he fell seriously ill due to excessive fright, and died not long after, only thirty-eight years old when he died. This can also be regarded as Zhuge Ke feeling lonely, and returned to call him away.
In the historical records, the records of Sun Jun and Zhuge Ke before their deaths are full of fantasies and supernatural powers, although this is certainly not the case in reality, but Sun Jun did indeed do too many evil things, and it was sooner or later that he was scared to death or killed.
