This strange restaurant desperately tried to hide, and that's why

author:Ideal Life Lab

In any case, in order to attract more customers, most restaurants always want to sit in the best area with a delicate and conspicuous façade. With exceptions, the Thai food mak MAK at The Landmark Central in Hong Kong wants to hide itself.

This Thai restaurant is designed after a 60s Thai grocery store. The first thing that greets you is an authentic Thai old-fashioned grocery store. The interior decoration of the store has been restored according to the style of the year, and the shelves are also lined with Thai specialties such as coconut milk, peppers, and red potions.

Of course, this grocery store is just a "cover", just for bar and takeaway purposes. As the waiter rings the bell, the shelves on the side will turn into sliding doors, revealing a whole new world for you.

The restaurant's dining area is decorated with local Thai canned groceries, wooden tables and chairs, and Thai brand hangings. Designer Nelson Chow said that the design team spent a lot of time studying the decoration of traditional Thai houses and shops to collect authentic Thai elements. Not only that, but the films of Wes Anderson and Wong Kar-wai are also their inspirations.

The design team believes that good design should provide customers with a holistic, non-fragmented experience in decoration, lighting, and furniture. For example, the restaurant does not have windows designed. The design team works on the walls and lights so that customers can see the "sunlight" that comes in (in fact, it is built with lights). The color of the seat cushions and walls also echoes. Red is used to embellish, such as the logo of the restaurant OK gesture, menu, etc.

The restaurant sells Central Thai cuisine with a rich range of ingredients and a sweet taste. In order to maintain the quality of the dishes, in addition to the seasonings imported from Thailand, most of the ingredients are from Hong Kong.
