Liu Wei, born in Shanghai on January 15, 1980, entered the Shanghai youth team in 1994 as a defender. Liu Wei's CBA career began in 1997 and played for the Shanghai men's basketball team for a total of 18 seasons, ranking first in Shanghai's team history in terms of appearances, wins, points, assists and steals, and helped the team win the CBA championship in the 2001-02 season. Last season, Liu Wei played in 35 games for Shanghai, averaging 20 minutes per game and averaging 6.5 points, 2 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Liu Wei played 18,259 minutes (1st in history), 10,147 points (4th in history), 3,014 rebounds (14th in history), 2,591 assists (2nd in history), 930 steals (5th in history), and was the 3rd Mr. Wanfen in CBA history.
