At about 10:00 a.m. on the 8th, the Municipal Marine Police Corps received an alarm that there was a sharp-billed bird in the flower platform of the Binjiang Trail on Changbin Road in Yuzhong District, which may be injured and cannot fly and needs help.

After arriving at the scene, the police on duty at the Nanjimen Police Station of the Marine Police Corps found that birds could be seen from time to time in the flowers on the flower platform. But perhaps too frightened to escape, the birds always hid deep in the flowers and in the crevices of the stones. The police chased it repeatedly and finally caught it out of the flowers. The bird has brownish-grey feathers, a body length of about 40 centimeters, a slender beak, and bleeding legs that appear to be injured and unable to fly.

After the police took this "strange bird" back to the police station, they contacted the experts of the Chongqing Zoo to identify that the bird is still a juvenile bird, the scientific name is night heron, and it is a national three protected animals (that is, terrestrial wild animals with important ecological, scientific and social values protected by the state), which inhabits streams and rivers, mainly feeds on animal foods such as fish, shrimp, and aquatic insects. Finally, the police transferred the birds to the Chongqing Zoo for proper care.

According to the police, with the in-depth development of the protection of the Yangtze River, the public's awareness of protecting wild animals is gradually improving, and all kinds of wild birds frequently inhabit the yangtze River, which is also an important manifestation of the improvement of the ecological environment. The Municipal Marine Police Corps will also continue to carry out publicity and inspection work, resolutely crack down on all kinds of criminal activities that damage the ecological environment of the water areas, and promote the healthy development of the ecological environment of the waters in our city.
