Perhaps many people know that Yang Dai lived in Suzhou, but where her former residence is, it may not be clear. No. 16 Temple Lane, here is the Suzhou Municipal Control building, named Zhongren Ancestral Hall, also called Yiwen Hall. Yang Dai once wrote in her book that when she was a child, her father bought a local house called Yiwen Hall, and then renamed it An Xu Tang, where she spent her youth for the next ten years.
Today, the logo of the Zhongren Ancestral Hall is still hanging on the mottled walls, and the remaining brick carved gatehouse can still reflect the shadow of the mansion in the past. But even the residents who have lived here for decades do not know that this was once the former residence of Yang Dai.
In fact, the "Suzhou Municipal Public Housing Registration Form" on August 24, 1965 shows that the original owner of No. 16 Temple Lane is Yang Bi, the sister of Yang Dai. Yang Dai once wrote in the book that her wedding with Qian Zhongshu was held in the former residence of Miaotang Lane, and after leaving Suzhou, she often hung up here.
It is said that after returning to Beijing, relatives told Yang Dai that there were more than 50 families living here, which surprised her very much. Today, the mansion has been completely unrecognizable, with dilapidated walls and intertwined wires telling the baptism of wind and frost.
Seeing such a situation, it is inevitable that there is some regret. So, is this encounter just a case? At present, what is the status of protection of the former residences of many celebrities in Suzhou?
Here is No. 10 XiaTang in The Gate, and a small door hangs the signs of Lu Kentang and Lu Run itch's former residence. Lu Kentang and Lu Runju were the grandchildren of the Qing Dynasty, and Lu Runqiu was the last Emperor in China, and was once the emperor of the Guangxu and Xuantong dynasties. He was also a Westerner and founded the Su Lun Spinning Factory and the Su Jing Spinning Factory.
Walking in the dark and narrow escort alley, you can feel the scale of the mansion of that year. Push open the innermost small door, the original wooden structure of the house, still retain the pattern of the year, but most of the house has been seriously damaged, the house outside the house is built randomly, furniture garbage is piled up at will, it is completely impossible to see that this was the former residence of the yuan.

At No. 48 Tiankuqian, Sheng Xuanhuai's former residence is only left with the identification plate of such a cultural relics protection unit. Sheng Xuanhuai is the founder of China's telegraph industry, civil steamship industry, banking and other industries, and is known as the "father of China's industry".
In the 1980s, it was used as a warehouse for a pharmacy in Suzhou, and later evolved into a house for residents. With more and more residents, the chaotic construction here has not been spared, and the former residence is no longer the original.
In fact, as early as the beginning of this century, the protection of the former residences of celebrities in Suzhou has attracted the attention of all sectors of society. The former residences of famous people in Suzhou are all over the streets and alleys of the ancient city, and they are like pearls that wear the historical context of Suzhou. So, how should these celebrity homes be protected?
At No. 26 Wang Xiema Lane, there is the former residence of Wang Mingluan. Wang Mingluan was a minister and bibliophile in the late Qing Dynasty. Now there are more than thirty households living in the whole house, and Ms. Ge's family is one of them. Life is inconvenient due to the old house.
The former private mansion has become 72 tenants, and no one is willing to bear the cost of repairing the ancient house. In addition, due to the large number of residents, it is difficult to unify opinions, and the main body of the house is often a wooden structure, which is difficult to maintain.
In fact, as early as 2011, the municipal government set up the ancient building old house protection and repair command, and set up a cultural tourism group, in accordance with the principle of protecting the authenticity and integrity of the ancient building, to carry out the excellent historical building protection and repair pilot project with 12 ancient buildings as the pilot. Among the 12 old mansions, there are the former residences of famous historical figures such as Pan Shi'en and Pan Zuyin. At the same time, the "Implementation Opinions on the Protection and Repair Project of Ancient Buildings and Old Houses in Urban Areas" was issued.

Since 2011, through proper relocation and resettlement of residents, the Cultural Tourism Group has relocated all the residents of the former residence, and restored the Pan Shien Former Residence of the three roads and six advances as it was according to the original manuscript of the expert's building. At the end of 2014, the renovated Penh House was transformed into a museum and officially opened to the public and tourists free of charge.
Also relocated and renovated, the former residence of Pan Zuyin, a Qing Dynasty Tanhua Tanhua, has innovated ways of conservation and utilization, introducing a boutique hotel that allows visitors not only to visit the former residences of celebrities, but also to live.
At present, the hotel occupancy rate is as high as 80%, which has become a successful case of Suzhou using private capital to protect and utilize celebrity former residences, and has also opened up another way of thinking for the better combination of Suzhou celebrity former residences and cultural tourism. Deputies to the Municipal People's Congress suggested that the protection of celebrities' former residences should be closely integrated with the development of cultural tourism, and the design of celebrity former residence boutique tour lines should be designed to improve the quality of suzhou cultural tourism.
Experts also suggest that the protection of celebrities' former residences should be more boldly open to the society, and a variety of funding methods and support methods should be adopted to allow more private capital to be invested.
