Lin Daiyu, who lost her mother early, fled to her grandmother's house (Jia Province) to live. Although Lin Daiyu, who has a lot of wisdom, and his extraordinary cousin Baoyu met for the first time, they were the same at first sight. The following year, Jia Fu came again, Xue Baochao (the aunt and niece of Baoyu's mother, Lady Wang), who came from a famous family and had a "great demeanor".
Because Baoyu has a piece of baoyu brought from the fetus, Baochao also has a golden lock, and people say behind their backs that they are exactly the destined pair. Baoyu and a group of sisters get along day and night, harmoniously, but more closely with the heart of Daiyu, who shares ideas.
Jia Zhengwangzi Jackie Chan forced Bao Yu to read the Eight Strands article. Baoyu and Daiyu, who despise fame and fortune, peek at the forbidden "Records of the West Chamber", expressing their free thoughts and nurturing the love between them.

After Jia Zheng learned of this, he hated Bao Yu for violating his tutor and beating him half to death. Dai Yu pitied Bao Yu and cried so that her eyes were red and swollen, and Bao Yu tried her best to comfort Dai Yu and sent Qing Wen, a handkerchief who wiped her tears, to Dai Yu. Dai Yu cherished this handkerchief with thousands of emotions very much, and specially inscribed a poem on it to record love.
One night, Bao Chao visited Bao Yu, sat for a long time and did not leave, causing Qingwen to resent, at this time someone came and knocked on the door, Qingwen did not know that it was Daiyu, and refused to open the door with a fierce voice. Dai Yu was already suspicious, and when she saw the laughter, Bao Yu sent Bao Chao out, so she misunderstood that Bao Yu deliberately snubbed her, which caused more sentimentality that she was sent to the fence and bullied.
The next day, Bao Chao accompanied Jia Mu and others to enjoy the spring music in lotus champs, and Dai Yu went to the depths of the peach forest alone to express her inner depression by burying the fallen flowers. Bao Yu heard the funeral words of a tear and came looking for a sound, Dai Yu remembered to hate last night's "closed door soup", and avoided it with negative anger. After Baoyu's sincere dissection, Dai Yufang explained the misunderstanding.
Dai Yu fell ill. Sympathetic to Daiyu, in order to test whether Baoyu is true, pretending that Daiyu will return to his hometown in Suzhou, Baoyu believes that it is true and frantically wants to keep Daiyu. In this way, the love between Bao and Dai was exposed in front of people. Baoyu also fell ill, and Jia Mu decided to marry him. She believed that Dai Yu had violated Jia Fu's tutors, so she adopted Wang Xifeng's "Drop Bag Record" under the comparison of "Dai Yu's behavior is obedient, not as docile as Bao Chao", and pretended to marry Bao Yu as "Sister Lin".
Dai Yu learned of bao Yu's intention to marry Bao Chao, thinking that Bao Yu had changed his heart, so he burned the poem manuscript and died with hatred. When Dai Yu died, it was the night of Bao Yu's candles.
When Bao Yu found out that the bride was not Sister Lin but Sister Bao, he was so shocked that he went crazy, and when he heard that Dai Yu was dead, he ran to the spirit like a madman, crying blood and tears, and pouring out his grief and grievances.
The "golden lock" could not lock the "baoyu", and the "iron sill" could not close the "contrarian son", baoyu threw away the "psychic treasure jade" and ran away from home in anger.
