The 74th Venice Film Festival announces the lineup of the main competition jury

The 74th Venice Film Festival of 1905 recently announced the main competition section jury lineup, in addition to the chairman of the jury Annette Benin, the rest of the members include: British actress Rebecca Hauer, "Extreme Car Thief" director Edgar Wright, Hungarian director Iltico Inyeti, French actress Anna Muglallis, Mexican director Michel Frank, Australian film critic David Stratton, Italian actress Jesmin Trika, Hong Kong director Yang Fan.

Yang Fan is the only Chinese director to be shortlisted for the second time, and the only judge from Asia. Yang Fan has previously directed many films such as "The Love of Beautiful Teenagers", "Dream in the Garden", "The Prince of Tears" and so on. "The Prince of Tears" was shortlisted for the 66th Venice Film Festival. In addition to the director, Yang Fan also has a status of cinematographer, and his films are very focused on beauty.

Hungarian director Irtico Inyeti just won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival this year for "Flesh and Spirit." Mexican director Michel Frank's works "After Lucia" and "Chronic" have both been shortlisted for the Cannes Film Festival, and "Chronic" won the best screenwriter in Cannes.

"Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy" director Edgar Wright's new work "Extreme Car Thief" has won high praise in North America, and the film will also be released in the mainland on August 25.

In addition to the main competition unit, the Venice Film Festival also announced the jury lineup of the Horizon unit and the Future Lion unit. Italian director Gianni Amelio ("The Thief of Children's Hearts") chairs the Horizon section jury, and other members include Iranian director Losan Benitima (The Story), American director Amy Kananman (Texas Killing Field), Scottish director Mark Kázssys (Film History), Argentine screenwriter Andrés Duplatt ("Outstanding Citizen"), Belgian director Finn Troch, and French director Rebecca Zrotoski ("Planetarium").

The Future Lion section is chaired by French director Benois Jacques, and the rest of the jury includes Giov Mead, RiabeBo (Hong Kong producer), Greta Scalano, and Ogus Sawys.

The opening film of the 74th Venice Film Festival was the film "Shrinking Up", directed by Alexander Payne and starring Matt Damon, which was also shortlisted for the main competition section.

The 74th Venice Film Festival will be held from August 30 to September 9, 2017 local time.
