I have said this question more than hundreds of times, if we just want to pick a pair of fish, then simply order, go to professional fish farms, fish houses to buy, try not to buy in fish shops or unknown private hands, it is easy to be deceived.
The identification of male and female ornamental fish, it is difficult to say that it is difficult, it is easy to say that it is easy, that is, a male fish is slightly larger, each fin is longer, the color is gorgeous, the abdomen is flat, the head is slightly bulging, and the female fish can do the opposite, which mainly refers to some oviparagus ornamental fish, such as colorful, swallow fish, map, crown, mini parrot fish and the like, which is roughly the case.
However, we want to be able to easily distinguish with a picture or a few seconds of video, many species are not obvious at all, it is necessary for us to observe the field, such as male and female fish pairing themselves, jointly attacking other ornamental fish, etc., or there are signs of lower tube and nibbling on spawning plates, spawning barrels and so on.
For their own mature ornamental fish, after reaching sexual maturity, we may observe within ten minutes, we can easily distinguish, and for strangers, some ornamental fish, wide-eyed observation for a morning, may not be able to distinguish between male and female, this, has been said very bluntly.
On the question of whether to mention the can or not, whether it needs to be hatched separately, many aquarists have been asking, and I would like to say that the choice of this problem is all up to us.
Many juvenile cichlid ornamental fish have a process of learning to protect young, including bad habits or behaviors such as feeding on fish eggs and small fish, this reason is not complicated, but the learning process may be more complicated, some have become habits, some have been trained after three or five litters, they have learned, and the care of small fish is very good.
So, it's up to us to see what we want?
If you want the small fish to survive early in large quantities, then hatch alone, if you want the big fish to gradually learn this process, then go with the flow, the price is to sacrifice a few clutches of fish eggs, but we can see the scene of a group of small fish swimming behind the big fish, so don't ask me, I don't know how you think, it's so simple.
If the big fish frequently eat small fish, this may involve the stability of water quality, water temperature and environment, or the big fish are uncomfortable, or habitual feeding, we will adjust or deal with it according to the situation.
Some ornamental fish must spawn in specific water temperatures, water quality and rearing environments, and some eggs must hatch under these conditions.
Once the big fish find that it is not conducive to the survival of the small fish, they will not hesitate to eat the small fish, and we must understand these truths.
Why raise colorful fish houses, use water softeners, why not use what protein cotton, olive leaves, sunken wood and other things to soften the water quality, the reason is already very clear.
Why didn't my Diamond King and Red-bellied Phoenix ever allow them to multiply? It is because of the water quality problem that I do not want to solve at all, the reason why it is difficult for a woman to cook without rice, even a three-year-old child knows, why do some new aquarists not know it?
Therefore, many of the problems about the breeding of ornamental fish are not problems at all, and the problems are all ourselves.
Indiscriminate polyculture, can not provide a favorable environment for breeding alone, water quality, water temperature, casually catch two fish, ask whether it is male or female, such a question, this kind of operation method, no one can answer.
