WHO: Take advantage of the second window of opportunity

CCTV News: On the 25th, the World Health Organization held a regular press conference on the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that in order to slow the spread of the epidemic, many countries have taken unprecedented measures, including closing schools and businesses, canceling sporting events, and requiring people to stay at home, and countries should take advantage of the second window of opportunity to fight the epidemic.

Tedros said WHO recommends six key measures: expanding, training and deploying health care and public health personnel; establishing systems for finding all suspected cases at the community level; increasing the production, capacity and availability of testing equipment; identifying, adapting and equipping facilities for treating and isolating patients; developing clear plans and processes for isolating contacts; and refocusing the entire government on COVID-19 control.

Maria van Kokhov, technical director of WHO's health emergency project, said that China has taken measures of different intensities in different risk areas to effectively stop the spread of the epidemic and is worth learning from the world.
