Cui Zifan (1915-2011) used the name Cui Shangzhi. Shandong Laixi people.

From 1940 to 1945, he studied at the Yan'an Military and Political College and the Yan'an Senior Party School, and later served as a commissioner of the Nanhai Administrative Office in Jiaodong District, Shandong.

He is a member of the China Artists Association and a director of the Beijing Municipal Artists Association.

Since childhood, he has loved to paint, and has received encouragement and guidance from Qi Baishi.

He is good at painting flowers and birds in large strokes, and is good at drawing on the strengths of all families and innovating on the basis of inheriting traditions.

Fine large freehand flower and bird painting, but also good at landscape. The works have a wide range of themes, concise compositions and summaries, and have a distinct style of ancient simplicity and vigor.

His works are collected by the National Art Museum of China, Tianjin Art Museum, Beijing Museum, Shandong Museum, Chinese Painting Research Institute, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing Academy of Painting and museums in the United States, Canada, Sweden and other countries.
