On the afternoon of November 6, Jian Yangyang, winner of the Weinan National Moral Model Nomination Award, returned from Beijing with honors. In the Xincheng community of Xinglin Town, Huazhou District, representatives of community residents and Family members and colleagues of Jian Yangyang greeted him home with flowers and applause.

On November 5, the 8th National Symposium on Moral Models and the Awarding Ceremony were held in Beijing. In Shaanxi Province, 2 people were awarded the 8th National Moral Model and 8 people won the 8th National Moral Model Nomination Award. Among them, Weinan Jian Yangyang won the 8th National Moral Model Nomination Award.

Jian Yangyang, 30, is an ordinary employee at the gasification branch of Shaanxi Shaanxi Coal Chemical Group Co., Ltd. On the evening of July 16, 2018, near Shidiyu in Huazhou District, Jian Yangyang and his friends were gathering in a farmhouse to share the joy of becoming a new father. At about 19:50, due to heavy rainfall, the water level of the river rose rapidly, and a flash flood occurred, resulting in 2 people being trapped in the river. After hearing the cry for help, Jian Yangyang and his friends quickly ran to the river to find a way to save people. The flash floods got bigger and bigger, everyone worked together, and after several attempts they failed, and the situation of the trapped people became more and more dangerous. At the critical moment, Jian Yangyang quickly climbed up the 2-meter-high stone next to him, jumped into the river, and tried to slowly approach the two people. But the water was turbulent, and as soon as he took a step, he was swept down by the flood, and the muddy water instantly choked into his nose and mouth. Jian Yangyang swam hard and successfully approached the two. With some effort, he took the lead in bringing one of the trapped people back to the riverbank. Immediately, he quickly turned back and rescued the second trapped person. Someone on the shore found a rope, and Jian Yangyang tied it around his waist near the rescuer. Suddenly, the rescuer was washed down by the river, Jian Yangyang pounced on it with all his strength, grabbed her hand, and the crowd on the shore worked together to pull the two ashore, interpreting the spirit of seeing righteousness and courage with actions.

"I am honored to be able to participate in the 8th National Moral Model Award Ceremony and receive a cordial meeting with General Secretary Xi Jinping together with the winners of the National Moral Model and Nomination Award." Jian Yangyang said that this honor not only belongs to him personally, but also belongs to the people of Weinan and will further motivate him to do his job well. "The power of the spirit is infinite, and so is the power of morality. In the future work, I will always motivate myself with this honor, strictly demand myself in my post, carry forward the spirit of good moral model, play a good exemplary and leading role, start from myself, and be a person with a sense of social responsibility. Jian Yangyang said that at present, he has applied to join the Communist Party of China, will demand himself with the high standards of party members, scrupulously fulfill his duties, be willing to dedicate, and contribute to the construction of socialist spiritual civilization.

The National Moral Model is selected every two years, and as of now, a total of 7 people in Weinan City have been awarded the National Moral Model Nomination Award.
