（144）A Cowboy
A cowboy rode into town and stopped at a saloon for a drink. Unfortunately，the locals always had a habit of picking on strangers, which he was. When he finished his drink, he found his horse had been stolen. He went back into the bar, rapidly took out his gun,caught it above his head without even looking and fired a shot into the ceiling.
“Which one of you stole my horse?"he shouted with surprising forcefulness. No one answered. “All right, I'm going to have another beer, and if my horse isn't back outside by the time I finish, I'm going to do what I have done in Texas ! And I don't like to have to do what I have done in Texas!" Some of the locals moved out very quickly. The man, true to his word , had another beer, walked outside, and his horse has been returned to the post .
He got onto the horse and started to ride out of town. The bartender wanderedout of the bar and asked,“Say partner ，before you go... what happened in Texas?"The
cowboy turned back and said, “I had to walk home.”
一個牛仔
一個牛仔騎馬進了鎮子，停在一個酒吧前，要杯酒喝。不幸的是，當地人總是喜歡作弄陌生人，而他就是個陌生人。當他喝完酒，他發現自己的馬被人偷了。他又回到酒吧，飛快地拿出槍，看都沒看地舉槍過頭，朝着天花闆放了一槍。
“你們誰偷了我的馬？”他用異乎尋常大的聲音喊道。但是沒有人回答。“好吧，我再要一杯啤酒。如果我喝完了酒我的馬還沒有在外面出現，我就會象我在德克薩斯州所做的那樣！我并不想重演德克薩斯州那一幕！”有些當地人趕快溜了出去。那個人說話算話，又喝了一杯啤酒，走了出來，而他的馬已經被還回來了，拴在樹樁上。
他上了馬，開始往鎮外走。酒吧裡的男招待溜出來問他：“我說，夥計，你走之前……你在德克薩斯州的時候發生什麼事了？”那個牛仔轉過身來說：“我不得不走回家。”
