用法1：since引導的時間狀語從句中用短暫性（終止性）動詞的一般過去式，主句用現在完成時或現在完成進行時。此種用法最為常見。此時，整個句子可以直接按照字面意思翻譯。即從句所表示的時間是從從句謂語動作發生的時間算起直到現在。
1）Since he changed jobs he's looked like a new man.
他跳槽之後像換了一個人似的。
2) She's a changed woman since she got that job.
她自從得到了那份工作，變得判若兩人。

用法2：since引導的時間狀語從句中用延續性動詞或者是表示狀态的靜态動詞的一般過去式，主句用現在完成時或者現在完成進行時。此時，時間狀語從句所表示的時間是從從句中這個延續性動作或表示狀态的靜态動詞動作結束直到現在這個時間段，翻譯時不能按照字面翻譯。
1）I haven’t heard any noise since I slept.

2）I’ve written her 30 letters since I was here.
