Zhangbi Village, an administrative village in Longfeng Town, Jiexiu City, Shanxi Province, also known as Zhangbi Castle, is located in the southeast of the Jiexiu Basin on three sides of the gully, on one side of the Dangerous Section of Pingchuan, with an altitude of 1040 meters.
The ancient castle makes full use of the geographical advantages of retreating by the mountains, difficult to attack and easy to defend, and has built an ancient tunnel up to 3,000 meters long underground, with three layers of attack and defense, and builds a fortress on the ground to build a city of Tunjia Tibetan soldiers.
The walls of the castle are 1,300 meters and the area is 120,000 square meters. On both sides of a "Dragon's Back Street" made of red stones in the fort, five major temple complexes are built in a staggered manner.
Zhangbi Ancient Castle is a relatively intact ancient pocket "castle" in China that integrates military, residence, production and religious activities.
It concentrates many cultural relics and monuments such as Xia Shang ancient cultural sites, Sui and Tang Tunnels, Jin Dynasty Tombs, Yuan Dynasty Opera Stages, Ming and Qing Dynasty Residences, etc., especially the Sui and Tang Tunnels, Liu Wu Zhou Temple, Liu Li Steles, etc. are rare in the country and unique to Zhangbi.
Zhangbi Village is a thousand-year-old village that integrates multi-ethnic cultures and lives in hundreds of families, which can be called a thick history book.
Due to the well-preserved shape, style pattern, temple architecture and residential courtyard of the ancient village, it was awarded the title of "China's Famous Historical and Cultural Village" and was rated as "Top Ten Charming Towns in China".
The streets are flanked by elegant shops and quaint houses; several temples are covered in glass, golden and brilliant, dotted in the fort; there are also ancient locusts and rare glass steles with willows, full of historical sites and ancient scenery.
