Neil Welch was born in 1972 at the Pottery Centre in Staffordshire. He was an outstanding figurative sculptor. Considering himself self-taught, Neil began making monster masks in his bedroom from an early age for his friends to use for shows. At the age of 16, he spent two years as a stage set and prop designer at the New Victoria Theatre, where he discovered a love of sculpture. Neil then spent 7 years as an interior sculptor at Wedgwood.
The curves of the human form are extremely complex, and Neil's extraordinary talent for capturing fleeting gestures and emotions in sculpture, combined with a keen understanding of anatomy, sets his work apart. Each artwork is a labor of love, and Neil personally carries out each sculpture and unique decoration in close cooperation with the sculpture factory overseas to produce the best finish. His bronze edition sold out quickly, and his work has been highly sought after in recent years. He is just one of the very few sculptural talents today who can produce such a beautiful work of art.
As Neil puts it: "I strive to capture the full subtleties of my body and soul and to produce works that represent my best savers". "Becoming an artist is a journey, you never stop learning, and my work and impact are always in flux. I never knew where they would take me next. ”
