Guo Jiashi wrote "g'ogiya" in the Manchu text of the Eight Banners of Manchurian Clan Genealogy. In the Chinese historical materials of the Qing Dynasty, it is also written as "Guo Jia", "Guo Jia" and so on.

In the Jin Dynasty Jurchen surname, there is no trace of Guo Jiashi, so it is generally believed that Guo Jiashi is a new Jurchen surname formed in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.
