The end of the Ming Dynasty: the sad life of the two princes of the Chongzhen Emperor

author:Fox Dawn

In the last years of the Ming Dynasty, when the Chongzhen Emperor Zhu Youjian took the throne, the institutional ills accumulated over the past two hundred years of the Ming Dynasty had long been accumulated and could not be returned, and the illness was terminally ill. On the one hand, the population has soared, land annexation is serious, and money is concentrated in the powerful and powerful, on the other hand, the decaying state apparatus cannot collect taxes at all, and the state finances are in a dilemma, making it difficult to maintain normal operation.

The end of the Ming Dynasty: the sad life of the two princes of the Chongzhen Emperor

The Ming Dynasty clan system, compared with the previous Han, Tang and Song dynasties, the biggest drawback is that there is no demotion of the knighthood system, resulting in the passage of time, each generation of emperors divides each prince into princes, and each generation of princes divides many county kings, and the branches flourish, causing a heavy economic burden to the country.

These king of the clan who left the palace of the Four Heavens for more than a few miles was regarded as a rebel, in fact, like high-ranking prisoners under house arrest by the emperor and bureaucrats with layers of ancestral law, what value of life did they have except bullying small people, accumulating wealth, eating together, and so on?

Therefore, it is not surprising that, like the beloved son of the Wanli Emperor, the uncle of the Chongzhen Emperor, and the Fu King Zhu Changxun, the fat oil of his own, rich enough to be an enemy of the country, but in the chaos of the world, he was not pulled out of the dime, and finally he was captured alive by the displaced people's army and made into a "Fulu (deer) feast".

The end of the Ming Dynasty: the sad life of the two princes of the Chongzhen Emperor

Didn't the Chongzhen Emperor really know that the people had no money and that the wealth of the entire country was in the hands of the bureaucratic rich? But on the one hand, although he could depose or even kill those zaifu, governors, shangshu, and other senior officials at will, like killing pigs and dogs, on the other hand, he was simply unable to fight against the entire bureaucratic elite and let these moral gentlemen spit money out of their mouths.

At the time of internal and external troubles, the Chongzhen Emperor also listened to the advice of Xue Guoguan, the first assistant of the cabinet, and forced his relatives of the imperial state to donate funds.

The great-grandmother of the Chongzhen Emperor, the biological mother of the Wanli Emperor, and the Empress Xiaoding, Li Shi, believed in Buddhism during her lifetime and was revered as the "Nine Lotus Bodhisattva" after her death. Li Guorui, the Marquis of Wuqing, was empress dowager Li's nephew, who inherited the title of her grandfather and empress dowager Li's brother, and according to the relationship between relatives, was the distant cousin of the Chongzhen Emperor, and the blood relationship between the two sides was already very weak.

Li Guorui owned a large area of manor land and countless family assets, and the Chongzhen Emperor first took him to the knife, and Li Guorui hid his private wealth, demolished his residence, and filled the street with dilapidated utensils to cry poverty. Emperor Chongzhen's father-in-law, Zhou Kui, the head of the imperial state and Jiading Bo, also made a point of saying good things to him.

The Chongzhen Emperor was furious and stripped Li Guorui of his title and imprisoned him, and Li Guorui was scared to death.

The Chongzhen Emperor continued to force donations, and the emperor's relatives and relatives were all in danger, so they secretly colluded with the concubines and eunuchs in the palace, taking advantage of the illness of the young fifth prince Zhu Cihuan, pretending to be a ghost, pretending to be the empress dowager (nine lotus bodhisattvas) to appear, accusing the Chongzhen Emperor of treating foreign relatives poorly, scaring this little child to death, and even vowing to kill all the princes: "All the princes should die!" 】

[The emperor was worried about the insufficient use of the country, and the national view please use it, saying: "In the outer group, the ministers and so on are at their disposal; in the internal relations, it is necessary to make an arbitrary decision." "Because of the words of Li Guorui, the Marquis of Wuqing... Or teach the state of Rui to hide the gifts and not to sacrifice, to demolish the first place, Chen Shi instrument through qu Zhi, show nothing. Jiading Bo Zhou Kui and Youlian, please. The emperor was angry, seized the kingdom of Ruijue, and GuoRui died. There are si chasing after each other, and Qi Qi is in danger. Due to the illness of the fifth son of the emperor, the eunuch gong concubine, who proposed that Empress Xiaoding was already a bodhisattva of the Nine Lotuses, rebuked the emperor in the air, and the princes died as soon as possible, and surrendered to the fifth son of the emperor. 】

This is also the ultimatum of the magnate group to the emperor: today you can put your black hand into the palace and scare and kill the prince, but tomorrow you can't kill the king and usurp the throne?

Emperor Chongzhen was bitter about the loss of his beloved son, and was intimidated, so he could only swallow this evil breath, let Li Guorui's seven-year-old son inherit the throne of Wuqing, return all the Li family property, and kill Xue Guoguan, the unfortunate first assistant, to give anger to the imperial relatives.

[The Russian crown prince pawn, the emperor is afraid, and the seven-year-old son of Guorui is a marquis, and he returns the gold and silver he has received, and he pursues the concept of the country and waits for the gap. 】

It should be known that for more than two hundred years, the foreign relatives of the Ming Dynasty were suppressed to be powerless and powerless, and their power was the strongest in all dynasties.

However, the Chongzhen Emperor only wanted to take a distant relative to open the knife, what a heavy price to pay: the life of a biological prince, accompanied by the head of a cabinet chief, and finally he could only admit it himself!

Not to mention the many feudal kings in various places, many of whom have been divided into kingdoms for one or two hundred years, have great influence in the local areas, and their forces are intertwined. The Chongzhen Emperor wanted them to spit out silver to help the country, how easy was it?

Therefore, even after the destruction of the Songjin War and the destruction of the Hongcheng Division and the fall of the Sun Chuanting Department in the Tongguan War, the elite mobile army of the Ming Dynasty had been completely destroyed, but there were still hundreds of thousands of border troops in the Nine Border Towns who lacked clothing and food, but the Chongzhen Emperor could not come up with the grain that could make them work hard to resist the enemy.

Therefore, Li Zicheng tens of thousands of old camps went on a crusade, and hundreds of thousands of Ming Dynasty border troops actually rolled up and surrendered, and within a few months, Li Zicheng's soldiers pointed directly at the city of Beijing, forcing the Chongzhen Emperor to hang himself, and on his deathbed he still cursed himself: "All subjects are ministers who have perished!" 】

When Li Zicheng was defeated at Shanhaiguan, these former Ming Dynasty troops quickly switched to the Manchu Qing, becoming the pawns and vanguards of the Qing army to take Guanzhong, go down to Jiangnan, and attack the four directions, and together with the Eight Banners Iron Horse, they used butcher knives to loot the huge wealth accumulated by the gentry and magnates. The ming dynasty and the Qing Dynasty will be a foregone conclusion.

After the Qing army entered the customs, under the banner of "helping the Ming Dynasty to avenge and suppress the exile army", it even more grandly announced that it would "treat well" and "nurture" the Ming Dynasty clan.

However, just two years later, when Li Zicheng was killed, the Hongguang regime in Nanjing was also easily overthrown, and the Eight Banners Army had already swept across a large area of Shenzhou, and the Qing court believed that the Ming dynasty kings and clans could no longer use the political value, so they began to kill them.

The Qing court even publicly issued an edict: "Where the Ming Sect Room ... If the poor are forced to surrender, or if they rebel and return, and those who are sacrificed, there is no shortage of long curses! (If the Ming Dynasty Zhu clan surrendered out of helplessness, or resisted the Manchu Qing but surrendered, or was held hostage by subordinates and surrendered, all beheaded regardless of age or age!) )

In the process of attacking the provinces and counties, the Eight Banner Army even captured one Ming Dynasty clan room after another, and almost killed them all.

In 1662, the Yongli Emperor Kunming was killed, Li Dingguo vomited blood and died, Zheng Chenggong died of grief, and soon after, Li Laiheng threw himself on fire, and the Qing court basically extinguished the anti-Qing beacon fire in the Shenzhou continent.

In 1668, the Kangxi Emperor of the Manchu Qing Dynasty finally announced that from then on, he would "open a net" to the Ming Dynasty's Zhu clan and let them have a way of life: "There are many descendants of the Ming Dynasty, and there are those who have sneaked into the mountains and forests, so that they will return to the fields; there are those who change their surnames and bury their names, and their surnames will be restored."

In 1699, the Kangxi Emperor paid homage to the mausoleum of Zhu Yuanzhang, the ancestor of the Ming Dynasty, in Order to buy people's hearts and minds, and summoned the world to "visit the descendants of the Ming Dynasty, confer a title, and keep the rituals of the world."

However, nine years later, Zhu Cizhao, the fourth prince of the Chongzhen Emperor, was discovered by the Qing court. Zhu Cizhao, born on the seventh day of march in the sixth year of Chongzhen, was born to the imperial concubine Tian Shi, chongzhen fifteen years in March, when he was nine years old, he was crowned king of Yong.

Although he was already 75 years old at this time, he had been incognito under the Qing Dynasty for more than 60 years, and he had no idea of "opposing the Qing Dynasty and restoring the Ming Dynasty".

The end of the Ming Dynasty: the sad life of the two princes of the Chongzhen Emperor

Did you know that the Kangxi Emperor refused to turn a blind eye, but brazenly declared: "Although Wang Shiyuan (Zhu Cizhao) may not have an anti-Qing trip, he may not have no anti-Qing heart!" , will definitely cut the grass and remove the roots of the Prince of Daming!

In order to cover up his unbelief and rebellious deeds, the Kangxi Emperor instructed Qing court officials to tamper with interrogation records.

"Qing Shi Record Volume": [Ding Wei. First of all, Feng Cha investigated and interrogated Mu Dan, the thief of the Great Lanshan Thief Department, and escorted the thief Zhu San, that is, Wang Shiyuan, and six other fathers and sons to Beijing and the lower nine secretaries Zhan Shike Dao for trial. To Jiuqing and other overtudes: Zhu Sanfeng is the fourth son of Chongzhen. The fourth son of Zha Chongzhen died in the fourteenth year of Chongzhen. 】

They forcibly described Zhu Cihuan, the fifth prince of the above-mentioned five princes who were scared to death in a court conspiracy, as "the fourth son of Chongzhen", and then said that Zhu Cihuan was a fake Prince of Chongzhen, and the evidence was overwhelming, and they killed all thirteen of them:

Zhu Cizhao was stabbed with a thousand knives and executed by Ling Chi, and Zhu Cizhao's wife, concubine, and three daughters were forced to commit suicide when they were arrested by the Qing court. All six sons were beheaded in public. A young grandson died in prison.

The bloodline of the Chongzhen Emperor, and even the entire bloodline of many Daming emperors such as the Taichang Emperor, the Wanli Emperor, the Longqing Emperor, the Jiajing Emperor, etc., has now been cut off...

And because the Qing Dynasty tampered with the relevant records, to this day, there are many people who mistakenly believe that Zhu Cizhao, the fourth prince of the Chongzhen Emperor, who was killed during the Kangxi Dynasty, was actually his fifth brother Zhu Cihuan.
