True historical reputation

Duan Yu, who looks elegant and handsome, is deeply loved by many beautiful women, has no power to tie the chicken and is partial to the chivalrous and soft intestines, and only has a crush on Wang Yuyan. His luck is admirable, and his confucianism and elegance, infatuation and purity, have left a very deep impression on readers and audiences.

True historical reputation

He is a central figure in Jin Yong's long tome "Tianlong Babu", and most people believe that duan yu's character is naturally fictional by the author. In fact, in history, not only duan is praised, but even his father Duan Zhengchun has a prototype.

At that time, the founder of the Dali state was Duan Siping, who was a white barbarian nobleman, and was the emissary of the Yining state in the former Dynasty of Dali, and the Duan family had been a Hao clan in Yunnan since the beginning of the Nanzhao state. In the more than 100 years since the founding of the Duan dynasty, the two families of Yang and Gao have been vying for power in the imperial court.

Before Duan Yu's father Duan Zhengchun ascended the throne, Dali was usurped by the powerful minister Gao Shengtai, and then under pressure, he returned power to the Duan family.

Duan Zhengchun ascended the throne in the third year (1096) of the Northern Song Dynasty. Diplomatically, he "made Gao Tailian enter the Song Dynasty, asked for 69 scriptures and 62 medicine books", and got along with neighboring countries, "Burmese, Kunlun, and Persians entered white elephants and incense together." Unfortunately, at this time, the Dali kingdom was already exhausted (the superstitious saying in the ancient books was "comet out of the west"). Duan Zhengchun is a prince of the wind in the novel, and in history, he is not actually like the novel, but after 13 years of being the lord of Dali, he became a monk and died well.

True historical reputation

Later, Duan Yu succeeded his father as the 16th king of the Dali kingdom, who reigned for 39 years, the longest reigning king of the Dali kingdom, and posthumously honored as Emperor Xuanren. Duan Yu was a monarch who made a difference, and he understood that establishing friendly relations with the Song Dynasty was the foundation of the founding of the country. Although the relationship between Song Yue and the State of Dali was alienated due to Song Taizu's policy of "not having time to go far", the State of Dali still maintained its vassalship to the Song Dynasty.

True historical reputation

Duan Yu paid special attention to strengthening ties with the Song Dynasty, paying tribute to dali horses, musk, cattle yellow and other local specialties, and also sending illusionists (magicians) to perform in the Song Dynasty, which won the courtesy of Emperor Huizong of Song and named him the Golden Purple Guanglu Doctor, the Yunnan Jiedushi Envoy, and the King of Dali. This was also the beginning of Dali's canonization by the Song Dynasty.
