I Yuan Caiyun, female, Han ethnicity, born on August 7, 1935 (the ninth day of the first month of July in the lunar calendar 1935), a native of Zhangjiang Town, Taoyuan County, Hunan Province, a member of the Communist Party of China, and the deputy chief physician of the Department of Ophthalmology of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was the president and honorary president of Taoyuan County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was elected as a delegate to the 10th and 11th National Party Congresses of the Communist Party of China, and was named "Model Worker of Hunan Province" and "National March 8th Red Flag Bearer".

In 1949, after Yuan Caiyun graduated from junior high school, he studied Chinese medicine with Li Zhengyu, a famous Chinese medicine doctor in Taoyuan. In 1964, he participated in the first phase of the Ophthalmology Refresher Course of Tianjin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and studied traditional Chinese medicine ophthalmology with Bi Renjun, a famous chinese medicine doctor in Hunan Province, and systematically mastered the basic theory and professional operation skills of ophthalmology.

In 1965, Yuan Caiyun returned to Taoyuan County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to create the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology, after her hard work, pioneering spirit and bold exploration, the team of Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology of the hospital continued to grow, and the professional staff developed from only 1 person to a team of more than 10 technical backbones. In the autumn of 1969, according to the theory of "Golden Needle Barrier Removal" in the "Secret Essentials of the Outer Platform", she used "Golden Needle Injection Technique plus internal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine to Treat Soft Cataracts", and became famous all over the world for her success. With the bethune spirit of "full of enthusiasm for patients and excellence in technology", she has the courage to explore and innovate in the clinic, and has successively made several congenital cataract patients such as Song Mou, who has been blind for 43 years, Song Mou for 20 years, and Song Mou for 16 years, see the light and become famous, and became a legendary figure at that time; and was established as a typical example of "living learning and practical use".

In the clinical practice of ophthalmology, she still continues to explore, constantly summarizes experience, and develops more than ten kinds of traditional Chinese medicine ophthalmic drug preparations such as "white internal stop honey pill", "white internal stop injection" and "myopia eye pill", which is unique in the treatment of senile cataracts, old choroidal retinopathy, optic neuritis, waste amblyopia, glaucoma, central exudative choroidal retinopathy (referred to as "middle infiltration") and other eye diseases, with outstanding results.

Over the years, she has worked with colleagues to handle nearly 300,000 medical letters, mailed various drugs more than 3,000 times, and treated more than 350,000 outpatients and more than 14,800 inpatients from home and abroad. It has built an international bridge of traditional Chinese medicine for patients in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the former Soviet Union, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia and other countries and regions. From 1980 to 1987, entrusted by the Hunan Provincial Health Department, she held 5 sessions of TCM ophthalmology classes and trained more than 150 TCM ophthalmology backbones, making outstanding contributions to the development of TCM ophthalmology in our province.

With noble medical ethics and exquisite medical skills, Comrade Yuan Caiyun successfully pushed Taoyuan County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to the whole country and launched the national gate. In 1975, there was an eye disease patient surnamed Cai in Jinjiang County, Fujian Province, because he still had no vision after cataract surgery and his family was in difficulty, Yuan Caiyun took the initiative to take out more than 200 yuan to buy him medicine for treatment, and finally made him see the light again. In 1987, a patient from Guizhou, because his eyesight had not yet fully recovered, asked to be discharged, Dr. Yuan learned, although he was also ill at the time, and her husband needed care because of pancreatic cancer, she still rushed to produce Chinese medicine powder for the patient overnight, and rushed to the hospital gate early the next morning to give the drug to the patient. In order to express his gratitude, the patient later wrote an article entitled "Lei Feng Spirit Here", praising the noble medical ethics and superb medical skills of Yuan Caiyun and other medical staff.
