The Twin Cities Cup Shanghai-Taiwan Junior Tournament audition ended 32 young chess players entered the semifinals

On September 4-5, the final audition of the 2021 "Twin Cities Cup" Shanghai Taipei Youth Go Tournament was played on the Yike Go platform. After 7 rounds of fierce competition in the final audition, 16 outstanding young chess players were finally selected from each group to stand out from each group and enter the semifinals. They will compete in the semi-finals against 16 other young players selected from the 5th "Red Dragonfly-Miao Miao Cup" Youth Go Tournament and the Shenqi Cup Shanghai Junior Go Classic.

The semi-finals will be held on September 12 at the Shanghai Chess Academy. 32 young chess players will gather to compete in the final 16 players , this year's "Twin Cities Cup" Shanghai Taipei Junior Go Tournament.

The list of 32 semi-finalists is as follows:

3-dan group: Xu Yichen, Ji Bocheng, Tai Hanzhong, Fu Shaoran (Twin Cities Cup audition), Gao Yuze, Shen Youting, Wu Yinzheng, Zhang Zhenyang (Miao Miao Cup 3rd group top 4)

4-dan group: Ma Yifei, Xu Chenrui, Li Sichen, Qin Ruihan (Twin Cities Cup audition); Xu Yuxiang, Wang Chenyang, Wei Yixin, Yuan Yuchen (Miao Miao Cup 4-stage group top 4)

Go exchange has always been the highlight of Shanghai-Taiwan exchanges. Last year, in 2020, the Sports Bureaus of Shanghai and Taipei co-hosted the 2020 "Twin Cities Cup" Youth Go Tournament, successfully building a new platform for cross-strait Weiqi exchanges. This year, the go tournament expanded its participation on the basis of the original, mainly for young people born in Shanghai after January 1, 1998, and young amateur players in Taiwan on the mainland. The auditions take place between June and August, with semi-finals and exchange tournaments in September and grand finals in October. On the day of the finals, in addition to the final of the Shanghai-Taiwan Junior Go Tournament, Taiwanese red-faced chess king Zhou Junxun and Shanghai master Hu Yaoyu were also invited to participate in the professional summit tournament sponsored by USI Electronics.

The Shanghai Selection was hosted by the Huangpu District Sports Bureau and the Shanghai Weiqi Association, organized by the Huangpu District Sports Development Guidance Center, the Huangpu District Chess and Card Management Center, the Huangpu District Weiqi Association, co-organized by shanghai Jiesheng Weiqi Culture Training School, Yike Weiqi and other units, and also received strong support from the Shanghai Yingchangqi Weiqi Education Foundation and other units.

This year's event is set up in two stages, online and offline. The online phase took place in July 2021 and is divided into 3 groups, namely 5-stage group, 4-stage group and 3-stage and below group. 100 people were selected from the 5-dan group (50 from each of the two groups), 50 from the 4-dan group, and 50 from the 3rd and below groups, for a total of 200 people to participate in the final selection competition from September 4 to 5, 2021. The online game adopts the 2002 version of the Chinese Go rules, and the game platform is the Yike Go APP, which takes 30 minutes per side, reads the seconds 3 times in 30 seconds, and abstains from 15 minutes late.
