Last weekend, I took my baby to most of the interest classes and went straight to Shenzhen to see the comic exhibition of Mr. Cai Zhizhong, a well-known cartoonist in Taiwan.
This is Mr. Cai's first comic exhibition in Shenzhen.
Speaking of this Taiwanese cartoonist, many people who love to read comics are still very clear:
Born in Taiwan, he became a professional cartoonist from the age of fifteen;
According to statistics, his works are currently sold in 59 countries around the world, with a total of 50 million copies;
The animation company he founded, which has filmed feature-length animated films such as "Old Master" and "OolongYuan", and won the 1981 Golden Horse Award for Best Cartoon;
He devoted himself to the study of ancient Chinese books and Buddhist books, painted well-known classical Chinese ideas and literary masterpieces into cartoons, and created classic works such as "Zhuangzi Said", "Lao Tzu Said", "Zen Saying", "History of History", "Journey to the West", "Water Margin" and other classic works, which opened the precedent of classic Chinese ancient comics.
Unfortunately, I am a true comic book white. In the era when Cai's comics first became popular, my attention was all on Sanmao, who specialized in Sahara stories.
Why take baby to this comic show?
1. Before preparing to read the text version of "Journey to the West", the fourth grade baby has already passed the English animation version once, and just happens to be reading Mr. Cai's comic version of "Journey to the West", and is very interested. This comic exhibition is held in a private gallery, the owner is Mr. Cai's student, very kind and patient, see us with bear children, do not abandon his curiosity to walk around, but especially careful and meticulous to explain to us from beginning to end Mr. Cai's personal experience, the characteristics of the work and the characteristics of this exhibition.
With the theme of "Enlightenment", this exhibition presents Cai Zhizhong's lifelong wisdom creation, which is the awakening of art, the introspective awareness, and the enlightenment of life.
The character on the background board is a sharp-eyed, intelligent and enlightened Dharma. To be honest, I didn't expect Dharma to be such an exaggerated image.
The works in this exhibition, 28 paintings of "Water Margin", covering the thirty-six days of stars, Cai Zhizhong uses the "Cai Lines" with great oriental charm to vividly activate the image of one hundred singles and eight generals, "between the similar and the unlike", presenting a new Water Margin hero spectrum.
After I read it carefully, I really feel that it is different from the general popular Chinese comics, in addition to the personality of the characters is very distinct, there is an additional oriental aesthetic meaning in it, which feels very charming.
The exhibition also presents Cai Zhizhong's extremely rare large-scale creation, ink painting series. Most of the series are created after 2014, and his ink paintings are simple and Zen-like, with a few strokes but a remote artistic conception, conveying a clear and profound understanding of the wisdom of the ancient sages.
It is said that the theme of next month's exhibition is the more familiar character - Guanyin.
It is worth mentioning that this exhibition also reproduces a corner of Mr. Cai Zhizhong's Xixi Studio in Hangzhou.
Eva was very happy on this big desk, and also wrote a big book. When the adults were watching the exhibition, I went to the bookshelf and turned over a copy of "The World Speaks New Language" in Chinese and English, and I looked at it beautifully.
Watching the exhibition this time, I felt that I had gained a lot, not only because I had won a set of Mr. Cai Zhizhong's autographed version of "Classics of Traditional Chinese Culture" (Chinese and English versions).
I feel that I have a clearer idea of my child's traditional cultural education.
We all hope that children can accept more excellent traditional culture, but they are worried or subject to the sense of distance of traditional culture, the sense of barriers of advanced philosophy, so why not find more interesting ways to open it?
1, cartoon.
It is an indisputable fact that children now prefer comics. So let's take advantage of this humorous, intuitive way of expression.
The huge ideological system of ancient times, through the hands of Cai Zhizhong, can be turned into vivid cartoons, simple portraits, and simple words.
The long history of ancient times, many historical figures, complex historical events, and thematic excavations from different perspectives can become funny "If History Is a Group of Meows" and "Half-Hour Comic History".
Children can see in and learn, which in my opinion is a good thing.
Cai Zhizhong said that comics are a language, a means, the most important thing is content, content is king.

2. Animation.
A good quality animation can not only input useful knowledge, but also establish a good aesthetic.
I remember when I was a child, I watched "Nine Colored Deer", I thought the color was very beautiful, and when I was older, I knew that it was a reference to the form of Dunhuang murals, a strong exotic style, and the style of ancient Chinese Buddhist painting was fully displayed.
The greatest animation work in Chinese history, "The Haunting of the Heavenly Palace", has added a large number of traditional Chinese cultural elements, Peking Opera, opera, ancient costumes and architecture, and even small details such as clouds and waterfalls inside are carefully created.
In particular, the set of ink animation films of Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio, such as "Mudi", "Mantis Catching Cicadas", "Cao Chong Called Elephants", "Sandpiper And Mussels Fighting", etc., are really the pinnacle.
The "Chinese Choir", "Big Fish and Begonias", "Nezha", etc., which have emerged in recent years, are also good choices.
3. Book review.

5. Traditional cultural activities.
Personal participation is one of the best ways to gain physical and mental experience and strengthen understanding.
