The reporter learned from the Gongshan Management and Protection Branch of Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve in Yunnan on June 14 that recently, when the staff of the Dulongjiang Pipe and Protection Station of the Gongshan Management and Protection Branch was sorting out the infrared camera data recovered in the wild, the precious image data of the white-cheeked macaque was found and recorded for the first time from the two cameras.
In the video, the young white-cheeked macaque monkeys seem to know that there is a camera shooting them, and they are constantly selling cute frolicking in front of the camera. The number, distribution and structure of the two populations were monitored this time, which enriched the diversity of primate species in the northern section of Gaoligong Mountain, and laid a solid foundation for the next systematic scientific research and monitoring.
The white-cheeked macaque belongs to the genus Macaque in the primate family, and the most prominent external feature of the white-cheeked macaque is that the cheeks and jaws are grayish-white or white, and can extend behind the ears. In the newly promulgated List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection in 2021, the white-cheeked macaque is listed as a national second-level key protected wild animal.
