Lead students to read with their own perceptions

I have always felt that not reading a language teacher is one of the most incredible and terrifying things in the world.

From the time I stepped on the podium in 1990 to the present, I have been accompanied by more than 30 years of education and teaching, which has been accompanied by more than 30 years of reading. In a lot of reading, I expanded my horizons, drew wisdom, nourished my feelings, cultivated my philosophy, and struggled and persistently raised my spiritual highland.

Reading and gaining, often into words, refining and summarizing their own understanding, and then sharing with students seriously, this is actually my method of leading reading: "Lu Xun and Shen Congwen" tries to analyze the differences and similarities of the two peaks in the history of modern literature, interpret the secrets of their respective talents behind these differences and similarities, and the regrets of the two masters for various reasons; "The Dilemma in front of Modern Civilization" analyzes Arcadio's words and actions to figure out Márquez's complex attitude towards this character. It seems that it is not a total affirmation, blind praise, but a denial in the affirmation, and the warm praise is also mixed with cold criticism - affirming his spirit of being proactive and daring to learn from advanced cultures in the foreign world, criticizing his attitude of abandoning his own local culture as a shoe, so that he is deeply immersed in the "sublime and charming"; "Wang Xiaobo in a Tuxedo" tries to expound the untrimmed Wang Xiaobo's words, and the elegant demeanor of the melted-through reasoning and vivid story in one furnace, interpreting Cui Weiping's classic comment" Wang Xiaobo's text should be read on the bed to read "The origin ...

"In fact, reading constituted my most important experience growing up." This is a sentence written by The Guangdong writer Xiao Min in her famous article "The Ceremony of Coming of Age", which I frequently quote and introduce to the students of successive sessions. With the help of the unique observation and strong sense of responsibility cultivated by reading, she produced the prose collection "Sunshine Fragments" and "Rites of Passage" that radiated with the light of thought, as well as the deep and thick novel "Survivor's Notes".

In the days when the clouds are light and the wind is light, in addition to Xiao Min, I have also shared with the students the sharpness of Long Yingtai, the calm wisdom of Han Shaogong, the persistent questioning of Life by Shi Tiesheng, and the infinite pain of Wang Kailing's death of the classics... A student admitted to Shandong University was indignant that Shandong University had completely forgotten Shu Xingbei because I had shared the Shu Xingbei Archives with them; a student who had become a national defense student often sent me e-mails to discuss domestic current political hotspots; a student who wrote back and forth with me more than ten times, just for Zhao Yuesheng and Xiong Peiyun, the former's "Lamplighter" and the latter's "Freedom in the Heights" and "Rediscovering Society" strongly attracted her, and she tried to interpret them, the ethics of intellectuals, Gain a deeper understanding of the times and do something that will have a positive impact on the future...

Because of all this—the guidance I give to my students in reading and the positive results that this guidance leads to— I often feel a kind of happiness, a kind of happiness that teachers who don't read may have a hard time enjoying. I like to say to my students, "Chinese is the most soul-like subject, and I enjoy the profession of a language teacher." ”

Nowadays, certificates in psychology are quite popular in many schools, C certificates, B certificates, and even A certificates. I think that a language teacher who loves to read and has humanistic feelings does not need to rush to read psychological counseling books, and his (her) kindness, compassion for the weak, advocating fairness and justice cultivated through reading can also play a quite positive role in soothing students' emotions, nourishing students' hearts, and even repairing some children's wounded hearts.

Because many excellent works of literature themselves contain many psychological essences: the Iliad makes us understand what bravery is and the admiration for bravery, a sentence in Hamlet that "To be or not to be", that is a question makes us understand that courage and weakness are twin brothers lurking deep inside us, "Resurrection" makes us understand what repentance is and what kind of power repentance can produce; Freud's most convincing novel is "The Greatest Novel" The Karamazov Brothers" In this remarkable novel, How strong and powerful Dostoevsky's soul-pounding on his characters is! Of course, excellent psychological works should never and will not be rejected by a teacher who loves to read, on the contrary, they are like excellent works in various fields such as history and philosophy, which constitute an important part of a teacher's overall humanistic literacy.

For many years, as a reader, I have been consistently walking like this: enjoy reading, and then lead students to read with my own feelings. If long-term reading does elevate the spiritual heights of the self, then when I lead students to read with my own perception, I feel the happiness of "one tree shakes another tree, and one cloud pushes another cloud" - the "shaking" and "pushing" here are two-way.
