Weekly pen practice: Donkey rolling

author:Zhe Mom talks about education

In order to encourage my son (third grade) to express himself, we agreed to practice writing once a week.

Our school will have an outreach class every Friday afternoon, there are more than a dozen types of outreach classes, and students are free to choose what content to attend. The class I signed up for was "Food on the Tip of the Tongue," so I was familiar with the name of the dish. In last week's food class, I learned about Beijing snacks--- donkey rolling.

Some people laugh silly when they hear this name, but in fact, "donkey rolling" is not really a donkey rolling, but a special dessert in Beijing. Its name comes from this: dumplings made of red bean paste and glutinous rice flour roll in soybean flour, and the scene is like a donkey rolling on the road in the suburbs, so it is called "donkey rolling". There is also a legend about the origin of the dessert of "donkey rolling": Empress Dowager Cixi was tired of the desserts in the palace, so the imperial minister made a cake with rice flour and red bean paste, but a eunuch named "Little Donkey" accidentally threw it into the soybean flour, the minister thought about it, and it was too late to do it, so he gave it to Empress Dowager Cixi. Unexpectedly, Empress Dowager Cixi was full of praise, and when asked what this dish was called, the Imperial Catering Minister was in a hurry, thinking: Since it is the trouble caused by the little donkey, let's name it Donkey Roll. He replied, "The name of this dessert is Donkey Roll. “

Without further ado, let's take a look at how it works.

Ingredients: glutinous rice flour, bean paste filling, cold water, sugar.

Put a spoonful of glutinous rice flour in the container, add 250ml of cold water, then form a dough, put the dough on a plate and press flat, then put the dough in a steamer and steam for 20 minutes.

Cover the steamed dough with plastic wrap and knead well, add soybean flour, then roll out into a pancake, add your favorite filling, roll it up, and steam it according to the time of each ingredient.

The finished product is shaped like a green dough, sweet and delicious, and is a delicacy suitable for all ages.

I did the "Donkey Roll" encyclopedia, please take a look.
