On March 15, the staff of the Longchi Pipe and Protection Station of the Dujiangyan Pipe and Protection Station of Sichuan Giant Panda National Park collected data from infrared cameras in the Longchi area. Through the collation, it was found that two cameras placed at an altitude of 2300 meters in the area of Longchi Claw Mountain were filmed in the two days of January 3 and January 4 this year, a wild giant panda was photographed looking for water in a pit in the snow, drinking water until drunk and sleepy, and the picture was very cute.
Originally, the waterhole that the wild giant pandas in the picture are looking for is an animal drinking point set by artificial assistance, and the wild giant pandas have also formed a natural consciousness of such drinking points, although the drinking points are covered with ice and snow in winter, but the giant pandas will still go to the drinking point to find water to drink.
According to reports, the drinking water point belongs to one of the construction and follow-up monitoring projects of animal water replenishment points in the key areas of panda activities in the protected area carried out by dujiangyan pipe and conservation station and the World Wide Fund for Nature in June 2015. In order to effectively solve the problem of reducing the available water sources on the surface of the key areas of panda activities caused by earthquakes and post-earthquake secondary disasters, affecting the normal reproduction and survival of giant pandas and their species in the same region, the project has built a total of 6 water replenishment points of the same type. Through follow-up monitoring, it was found that the use of drinking water points by wild animals was very frequent, which confirmed that the artificial auxiliary drinking water point project had achieved remarkable results, and well solved the problem of difficult drinking water for wild animals in this area after the earthquake.
